Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs wide variety of manual labor tasks on roads, grounds or building maintenance.
- May perform unskilled tasks assisting mechanics.
- Operates such equipment as power lawn mowers and pneumatic tools.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires a High School diploma, GED, or higher.
- With limited instruction the candidate must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for using various
power tools and equipment.
- Experienced in commercial landscaping including the use of commercial lawn mowers, line
trimmers, edgers, and all associated hand tools.
- Experienced in the use of light powered equipment such as skid steer loaders, tractors, and off-road
vehicles.
- Must possess a valid NYS driver's license.
Other Requirements:
- Must meet the medical requirements of the “Job Assessment Form."
- Must have a telephone and must provide the number to BNL for callout and contact purposes.
- Must possess written and verbal skills.
- Must be capable of following written instruction procedures, work orders, and similar documents.
- Must possess the writing skills to sufficiently complete work orders and other required
documents.
- Must be able to communicate verbally with customers, fellow workers, and supervisors.
- Must be able to complete all the requirements of the Job Training Assessment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to be available for off-hour response to emergency call-ins for snow removal and other
events.
- Experience in road repairs such as pothole repair with both hot mixed asphalt concrete and cold
patch materials.
- Experience in the performance of, or assistance with masonry work.
- Experience with excavation and grading.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Requirements:
- Standing, bending and lifting.
- Ability to do heavy lifting > 30 lbs.
- Ability to do moderate lifting < 30 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders.
- Work outdoors/cold environments.
- Work in warm environments.
- Moving machinery.
- Use of powered and air operated hand-tools.
- Use of a respirator and other related safety equipment.
- Physical coordination dexterity and balance.
- Ability to wear proper PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
