Job DescriptionThis Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing signature outreach programs, community events, festivals, cultural celebrations, and tours to reach diverse constituents and celebrate Gwinnett County's vibrantly connected community.Essential Duties• Assisting with the planning, implementation, and execution of new programs that reach diverse constituents, facilitate involvement with county government, and increase awareness of how to access county government services• Attending community events, festivals, and meetings to promote the community outreach program to residents and stakeholders• Engaging with stakeholders, building collaborative partnerships with community organizations, and participating in community activities and meetings hosted by stakeholder groups• Collaborating with internal departments and agencies to achieve community outreach and engagement objectives• Communicating frequently and effectively with the community outreach management team, internal departments, and the general public• Supporting work to increase inclusion of traditionally underrepresented groups in county government• Utilizing technology and digital resources to increase engagement by residents and community organizations• Preparing reports and maintaining statistics related to new and continuing community outreach initiatives, activities, and servicesPublic Speaking Duties• Leading a variety of programs and public meetings designed to engage youth and adults, which may include making introductions and giving presentationsOther Job Requirements/Information• This job requires extended hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed to support the division's programs, events, and servicesGradeThe grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.Minimum Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, public administration, education, social work, or a related field• Two years of experience in planning and executing outreach programs, special events, community workshops, or town hall meetings• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.• Valid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications• Three years of experience in planning and executing outreach programs, special events, community workshops, or town hall meetings• Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups, including communities with limited proficiency in English• Experience working with youth groups• Familiarization in the practice and application of cultural competency• Proficiently speak, read, and write a second languageFor information related to position-specific essential duties, knowledge and skills, and physical requirements, please click here.Note: The class specifications listed on this website are not the official class specifications for Gwinnett County and are subject to change.For more information about this department, please click here.About Gwinnett CountyWelcome to Gwinnett County — one of America's fastest-growing counties for the past 20 years. The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law.
