Hachette Book Group is looking for an energetic, organized, and passionate Marketing & Publicity Assistant to join the team working across the Mobius and Laurence King Publishing lists. The Marketing & Publicity Assistant will report to the Director of Sales and will assist the US based marketing and publicity team.
This is a NYC based role. Effective January 2025, HBG's hybrid model will be 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist senior staff on lead campaigns including but not limited to:
- building media and partnership lists
- pitching media and brand partnerships
- creating tour schedules, scheduling travel, and arranging author escorts
- writing press releases and pitch letters
- preparing promotional materials, both digital and print
- coordinating mailings
- maintaining the shared content calendar for social media, newsletters, and campaigns
- assisting on social media influencer outreach and campaigns, plus engagement management
- and researching social media trends.
- Independently own and manage publicity campaigns for select books, gifts, games, and puzzles
- Administrative tasks include: creation of seasonal schedules, maintenance of the department digital filing system, managing budget tracking, note-taking at meetings
- Assist in preparation and attend New York NOW trade shows
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- College degree, or equivalent work experience
- Prior publicity or public relations experience through coursework, part-time work, or internships is preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects across teams, with a focus on details and deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with multiple social media platforms and management tools
- Familiarity with design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
- Familiarity with online programs such as Canva, Muckrack, AdEspresso, Mailchimp, and Squarespace is a plus
- Interest in book publishing is essential
Mobius is a publishing division owned and operated by Hachette UK but based in the Hachette Book Group New York office. Mobius takes the very best books from across HUK’s lists (approx. 60 titles per year) and markets, publicizes, and sells them in the US and Canada.

The compensation for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
