HackerOne is looking for an Assistant Controller to oversee and continuously improve day-to-day accounting operations and the Company's close process. The ideal candidate should be efficient in working in a fast-growing start-up environment, rolling up their sleeves to help problem solve and have a passion for driving process improvements incorporating automation and systems all in a digital first setting. Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will serve as a thought leader, solving complex problems across diverse subject areas, while collaborating extensively with cross-functional partners. The ideal candidate fosters employee development helping contribute to building a world-class accounting team.
Oversee day-to-day global accounting operations team across various areas such as cash and payments management, fixed assets, accounts payable and accruals, travel and expenses, and general ledger using digital first best practices
Oversee, drive and continuously improve the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes including consolidation, journal entry review, flux analysis, reconciliation review and financial reporting
Establish, document and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles company wide
Collaborate cross functionally including with other finance team members to develop, drive and implement efficient accounting processes and controls
Drive improvements in using our finance systems to continue to streamline and automate processes
Oversee external audit preparations and liaise with external auditors and tax preparers
Contribute to the design, development and implementation of strong internal controls
Assist the Controller with investor relations activities, including preparing materials for audit committee and board meetings
Oversee, mentor and develop global accounting team
8+ years of experience in the accounting field with a combination of public accounting, late-stage technology start-ups and/or public companies, with 3+ years acting in a managerial capacity
Knowledgeable of U.S. GAAP with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in accounting ERP system
Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused approach, driving processes and system solutions in a digital first environment
Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external business partners
Ability to motivate and develop a virtual team
Excellent proven project management skills
Enthusiasm for learning and staying up-to-date on industry trends.
Must be based remotely in US or Canada. HackerOne is a digital-first company. This model offers our employees flexibility in time and location. All employees must be able to work and excel in a remote environment.
