Position Summary Join the HackerOne family to champion a safer internet! As a Software Engineer II in our Platform Engineering team, you'll be at the heart of our engineering force, contributing to projects that matter. We’re a growing engineering team with an outsized impact, and we’re looking for a Software Engineer IC2 to help us innovate and propel our platform forward.

As a Software Engineer II, you will work with your squad on a variety of challenging projects. You are a collaborative and effective software engineer and team member. You will work with Senior and Staff level engineers to gain experience quickly and build delightful features and products for our community, as well as the thousands of companies who trust HackerOne with their cybersecurity posture.  You will also interact with our Infrastructure and Data teams, and many other engineering teams to guide our platform towards new heights of reliability, quality and performance.

Your journey at HackerOne

• Your day will start with a warm welcome online and you’ll get your tools to start!

• Your first 30 days will be focusing on getting to know our HackerOnies. You will join your new squad and start onboarding - get to learn the technology stack (Ruby on Rails + GraphQL + ReactJS + many more).

• Within 60 days, you will have committed a bunch of code to our repositories and will start developing a knack for being a fast and effective software engineer on our codebase.

• Within 90 days, you will start getting ready to lead your first project as Software Engineer - you will have branched out and talked to various other engineering teams and non-engineering teams, and developed a good sense of cross-functional collaboration and communication.

• Beyond 90 days, you will be a fully-fledged software engineer

• By that time you will be able to understand the business value of the products and features within your team. And you are able to translate feature requests into simple, but robust engineering solutions.

• From there, the path you carve is yours to define. Engage in a HackWeek project, tackle a cross-team challenge, and let your innovative spirit shine.
  

You are

• A tech enthusiast who likes to work with people and teams.

• Willing to learn from Senior and Staff Software Engineers.

• Based remotely in the UK or Poland. HackerOne is a digital-first company. You must be able to work and excel in a remote environment.

• Owner of your own progress as an individual.

You have

• 2+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering, preferably web development.

• Experience building applications in Python or Ruby on Rails, ReactJS and TypeScript. 

• Cloudflare Zero Trust Services & VPN Technologies, ElasticSearch/ OpenSearch, GraphQL are a plus.

You can

• Make an impact at both the squad and project levels.

• Debug incoming issues and analyze new work within your squad’s domain.

• Independently coordinate efforts around new initiatives within your squad, and—with support from others—collaborate across the broader engineering team.
