Hardware Test Engineer

We are currently seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to support Electronics - Test & Validation team in our Pontiac, MI facility.

Summary: Plan, develop, and conduct tests on electronic components, products, and systems by performing the activities below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

(Other duties may be assigned as necessary.)

  • Analyze Hardware design to identify and specify HW test cases.
  • Create Hardware Test Specifications with detailed steps to perform Hardware Test cases including acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to use Scopes, Power Supplies, LCR Meters, and other test equipment to perform test cases.
  • Support Test Technicians and Engineers in proper HW test setup, execution and documentation.
  • Prepare detailed customer test reports documenting product test data with pass/fail criteria, scope plots and equipment details.
  • Work with Hardware, Software, Systems Designers to review Hardware Test Specifications and Results.
  • Report all non-conformances to the appropriate HW Design Teams.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • System testing methodology (e.g., regression tests, component tests, EMC tests, etc.
  • Test management tools and the Issue Management System (IMS).
  • Grasp fundamental testing principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), CAN/LIN tools, and data acquisition tools.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Advanced experience in Electronics Test Engineering.
  • Experience with SMD soldering and PCB testing is a must.
  • +2 years of experience in automotive electronics (vehicle level) testing.
  • +2 years of experience developing, executing and documenting hardware (not software) tests.
