About the Role

As the Leave Management Manager, you will have hands-on responsibility for the benefit administration, strategy, analysis, communication, and compliance for all US leave and time off programs. Will perform management duties such as hiring, training, coaching, counseling, implement corrective actions, and evaluate direct report(s) as well as provide input on leave budgets, plan design, and administration.


What You Will Do

  • Assist the Director, Global Benefits in program strategy and design. Responsible for the implementation of new leave and time off programs and assist with cost and budget analysis, communications, vendor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Responsible for development and ongoing updates to policies and processes including state, local and company programs.
  • Stays abreast of trends and innovations in the field of Leaves of Absence and Workers’ Compensation; keeps current on legislative and regulatory issues at the State and Federal level (FMLA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, ADA, TDI, LTD, Sick Leave Laws, etc.).
  • Owns the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) interactive process in compliance with applicable laws, guidelines and company policies and processes and coordinates the non-occupational return to work program and reasonable accommodations. Coordinates reasonable accommodations with employees, HR, managers and legal.
  • Responsible for internal and external relationships with stakeholders: insurance vendors, employees, HRBP, managers, benefits team; payroll, and legal.
  • Responsible for the return-to-work process including the timely and accurate entry of return-to-work dates into Workday.
  • Creates and leads HR and employee training sessions.
  • Will act as the liaison between leave management and HARMAN’s Diversity and Inclusion group to ensure program alignment with internal philosophy on work-life balance initiatives.
  • Will be responsible for external benchmarking marketplace best practices for all things leave and time off related.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  • 6-8 years’ experience in employee leave management required, at least 2 years of which must be current.
  • Experience with company leaves, FMLA, all state-paid leaves, disability insurance, ADA, W/C, and all associated legal aspects required and possess the ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Experience with managing and implementing time off programs.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex topics and interact with all levels of management and associates, including HR colleagues, Sr. Executives and Business leaders.
  • Able to take initiative, effective at prioritizing multiple projects, comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with exceptional follow-up and follow-through.
  • Experience leading, measuring, and managing vendor relationships.
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Solid working knowledge of Workday.

What is Nice to Have

  • CLMS Certification.
  • Experience in writing policies and procedure manuals.
