POSITION SUMMARY

We’re looking for a Director, People Business Partners to join our Global People Operations team! The ideal candidate thrives in the startup environment, is very hands on, naturally curious and highly collaborative. This role will be responsible for driving the planning and execution of People & Place priorities for our global R&D and G&A teams. This leader will work cross-functionally across Harness to provide strategic direction and management to continue to build a strong People & Places team and support a high-performing work culture to achieve ambitious performance objectives. This position reports to the VP, People Operations & Talent Management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Strategic Advisor: Serve as an integrated part of the business, working with and advising R&D and G&A leaders to accomplish broader strategic objectives. Partner with functional leaders to understand how they can better develop and support the global GTM operating model and how leaders might consider realigning organizational structures, resource plans, and processes to optimize effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Organizational Development: Partner with client groups to plan and implement workforce strategies and intentional changes in organizational structure or processes, supporting growth in existing and new markets. Drive organizational effectiveness and thoughtful change management.
  • Collaborate with the Director, People Business Partners, GTM to execute on company-wide Talent Management Programs with client groups, including Quarterly Performance Reviews, Talent Reviews, and Career Development.
  • Perform investigations in a timely manner with minimal exposure to the business and escalating to senior People Operations  leadership or Legal when needed.
  • Coach managers on employee relations issues through weighing risks and alternatives, exploring legal and company compliance concerns, and offering balanced recommendations.
  • Identify and work with the Learning & Development team to drive training plans and programs for both individual contributors and people leaders.
  • Support the People Experience team to ensure participation in employee programs and to monitor and report on employee engagement.
  • Align with Total Rewards and Talent Acquisition to ensure key trends and retention levers are addressed and used effectively.
  • Serve as the People Business Partner for the global People & Places team.
  • Be a team player who operates in an extremely organized manner, working quickly and balancing many different tasks, while being proactive and anticipating what needs to be done ahead of time.

ABOUT YOU

  • You possess a minimum of 10 years of direct experience as a strategic People Business Partner.
  • Extensive experience operating as an HR professional, preferably in a mix of small but fast growing businesses and larger companies. Experience working for a SAAS company is a plus.
  • Experience managing a team of People Business Partners and reporting into senior leadership.
  • Experience supporting a global and remote workforce.
  • Expert-level experience in a variety of HR competency areas such as organizational design and development, leadership development, coaching, change management, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Track record of developing effective people strategies that align with and support company/team objectives.
  • Ability to solve complex problems; resourceful and take initiative to seek internal and external resources when problem-solving.
  • Excited to work in a fluid startup environment and able to switch between strategic and tactical mindsets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to work in a collaborative environment.

Work Location

  • This role is hybrid but it requires you to be physically based in our Mountain View, CA office

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $270,000 annually. Salary is determined by a combination of factors including location, level, relevant experience, and skills. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.  The compensation package for this position may also include equity, and benefits.
