Harvest Cellar Intern (Duckhorn South Napa)

The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Today, our portfolio features some of North America’s most revered wineries, including Decoy, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Canvasback, Calera, Kosta Browne, Greenwing and Postmark.

The Duckhorn Portfolio is looking to for Harvest Cellar Workers for Harvest 2023. This is an exciting opportunity to work with high-end fruit from many of Napa Valley’s diverse micro-climates and to learn about all aspects of harvest activities in the cellar, as well as assist with some non-harvest cellar activities, such as racking barrels and bottling.

Please note we have positions available with various start times: April 3rd, May 1st, and July 3rd.

What we will ask you to do:
  • Grape receiving.
  • Must/wine movements, pump overs, punch downs, grape sorting.
  • Brix and temperature checks.
  • Monitor fermentations.
  • Additions.
  • Cap management.
  • Sample tanks and barrels for analysis.
  • Barrel filling, emptying, topping, and racking.
  • Sanitation-tanks, barrels, presses, and equipment.
  • Follow safety rules at all times and wear required personal protective equipment.
What you will need:
  • Basic cellar skills, harvest experience a plus, but not necessary.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work in a team or independently.
  • Ability to work in various temperatures.
  • Ability to and willingness to work varying shifts.
  • Ability to perform the necessary physical labor.
  • Bilingual a plus, but not necessary.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all safety requirements.
