Harvey is a quickly growing legal AI startup. We have 170+ employees across our offices in San Francisco and New York, have been doubling in headcount each quarter for the last 3 quarters and continue to grow.
Although Harvey is a young company, our IT environment is quite mature, driven by our strict security demands. For example, all devices are centrally managed, all corporate apps utilize SCIM and SSO, onboarding is mostly automated, etc. The environment is 100% MacOS and cloud with only basic on-prem hardware.
You will be our 2nd IT hire and continue to build the IT team as the company grows. You will report to the Head of Security.
As a technical leader, you will set the technical direction of the team, while also hands-on delivering critical IT projects.
You should be able to navigate VLANs, tagged and untagged ports, network hardware, wireless standards, and solve difficult networking issues from first principles. You are familiar with software engineering workflows and can manage build systems, version control systems, and containerized architectures, ideally by having some software engineering experience yourself.
As a manager, you understand the business and its constantly evolving needs, prioritize and set the goals and vision for your team. You are able to attract, motivate, grow, and retain top talent and make sure that projects are finished on time and on budget. You find the right vendors for your projects, negotiate contracts, manage the vendor relationships, and ensure service quality. You fit in with our security-first mindset and implement and maintain robust security measures under the direction of our security team.
Deliver IT projects and solve difficult IT issues hands on
Lead a small and growing IT team as the company scales
Create a best-in-class onboarding experience for all offices while the company doubles in size every six months
Ensure the successful launch of new offices
Drive the adoption of IT systems engineering administration best practices including and not limited to documentation and training staff
Manage vendor relationships for networking, AV, and security
Work closely with Security to implement policies, tooling and compliance checks
Develop and manage the IT budget
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive knowledge of modern IT systems, networks, and software development
Excellent leadership, team-building, and motivational skills. Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
Strong business acumen and ability to align IT strategy with business goals.
Predictable and reliable availability
Ability to debug weird system behaviors and solve difficult issues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5+ years of experience in leadership roles in systems engineering, systems administration, SRE, or similar. Preferably in fast-paced startup environments.
In consideration of market analysis and relevant factors, the salary range for this position is set between $200,000 and $250,000. However, adjustments outside of this range may be considered for candidates whose qualifications significantly differ from those outlined in the job description. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in our equity plan and benefits program. Benefits include, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits (401k match up to 4%), and flexible PTO.
