Archetype Entertainment is a game studio in Austin, Texas led by industry veterans from BioWare and other AAA studios. Archetype is a division of Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro). It was recently voted the #1 place to live in America for the third year in a row — based on affordability, job prospects, and quality of life.We are seeking an expert Senior Gameplay Engineer - Camera to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing our camera and related technologies for first title, Exodus, and future projects. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and conscientious engineer with deep knowledge of player locomotion, collision, and animation in a AAA environment. This role works closely with our Lead Player Engineer, our Lead Cinematics Engineer, and the Lead Gameplay/Combat Engineer.What You’ll Do• Implement, improve, and maintain core camera systems; provide engineering support for other gameplay systems• Work closely with gameplay designers, engineers, and other specialists to ensure smooth camera functionality within gameplay and cinematics• Investigate performance and memory issues to meet our frame rate and budget requirements• Prioritize and react to issues in a timely manner• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other members of the engineering team• Continuously research and explore new technologies and techniques to improve the game's overall quality and workflowsWhat You’ll Bring• Motivation to work in a highly collaborative environment involving several developers in different fields• Experience in game development with a focus on camera programming in a runtime environment (bonus points for cinematic experience!)• Proficiency in C++ programming and animation blueprints within the Unreal Engine• Solid skills in 3D mathematics, problem-solving, and performance optimization• An eagerness to learn, grow, and become a leader in camera technology!Compensation Range, Currency USD:• Starting Pay Range: $128,669• Pay Range End: $215,571In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation range for this role.
