This role will be responsible for evaluating the appropriate accounting for our investments (equity investments, debt securities, financing receivables, real estate and securitizations) as well as the subsequent accounting for certain complex transactions. This position will report to our SVP – Technical Controller.ResponsibilitiesCollaborating with the Investments Team to assess the impact of transaction terms on their related accounting treatmentDrafting and reviewing accounting memos to document our accounting conclusions for our investments as well as select other technical accounting mattersCollaborating with joint venture partner accounting teams in the preparation and review of equity investment income/loss allocations using the hypothetical liquidation at book value (“HLBV”) method and the traditional equity methodResearching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principlesContributing to the operating effectiveness of our compliance with a Sarbanes-Oxley (404) internal controls environmentAssisting with the quarterly asset impairment analysisEducation and Prior Work Experience5+ years of relevant accounting and industry experienceCPA certificationPublic accounting experience working with publicly traded companies subject to SOX internal control requirementsDemonstrated experience of technical accounting researchExperience drafting accounting memos and accounting policiesKnowledge and demonstrated understanding of the hypothetical liquidation at book value method for equity method investment income/loss allocationsEnergy or financial services industries experience preferredRequired Knowledge and SkillsStrong attention to detailStrong proficiency in Excel with an understanding of data analysis techniquesDependable and reliable, excellent at taking initiative, and can work independently without close supervisionStrong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, innovative, entrepreneurial environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsComposure under pressure with the ability to balance competing prioritiesAbility to rapidly and accurately analyze complex information and communicate the information conciselyInterest in sustainability and related topicsEEO STATEMENTThe Company maintains a policy of non-discrimination in employment and complies with and supports all Federal, state, and local laws regarding discrimination in employment.
