Job Summary and Qualifications The VP, Strategy & Planning will be responsible for overseeing the creation of short and long-term growth plans as well as development of meaningful strategic planning process and supporting analytics to support growth and development. In this role, the VP will work closely with Group, Division and Facility executives to assess the market landscape, identify and prioritize growth opportunities. They will collaborate with the analytics team to drive market share momentum with business intelligence reporting & tools. The VP and their team, in collaboration with the SVP Strategy & Development, will be responsible for Division strategic planning and will serve as the primary strategy planning resource for all Division stakeholders and Facility leadership. The VP will work collaboratively with the Service Lines and Development leaders to identify and drive growth both within the hospital core and throughout the network. The VP should have meaningful career experience with strategic planning, complex market analyses, business intelligence tools and a track record of identification and execution of strategies that yield organizational growth. They will be expected to represent the HCA Healthcare Capital Division independently and effectively with senior-level executives both internal and external to HCA Healthcare. They will have exposure to growth and professional development with leadership at many levels within HCA Healthcare and access to a robust strategy & development peer group across the HCA Healthcare enterprise. Key Focus Areas • Facilitates division strategic planning • Annual Mid-Year and Strategic Business Plan development Oversees market/facility planning processes & next generation growth planning • Multi-year growth planning • Market Landscape/Environmental Assessment • Accountability process to ensure implementation of plan • Drives market share momentum through robust reporting & analytics • Growth & demand forecasting • Quarterly market share reporting and opportunity identification • Site of care analytics to support planning for future shifts and program opportunities • Supports capital planning, business case development & ad-hoc decision support • ROI analysis and prioritization • Support funding requests for new access point development, technology investment or facility expansion projects Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Strong business acumen and awareness of market dynamics and competitor activities • Understanding of industry trends, growth insights and growth forecasts • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory environment 1 • Effectively demonstrates collaboration with multidisciplinary stakeholders • Demonstrates ability to facilitate large groups at various organizational levels for purposes of planning, problem solving, or strategy development • Strong analytics skills and experience with different tools and reporting platforms • Highly proficient with PowerBI, QlikSense, Excel, and other Business Intelligence tools / organizations (i.e., Advisory Board) • Ability to present information in concise, effective manner, especially in PowerPoint • Demonstrated leadership competency in understanding stakeholder needs and managing expectations • Takes prompt and proactive steps to achieve objectives. • Comfort with and experience working in a matrixed environment • Key Performance Indicators: market share, volume, financial performance Travel: Anticipated 20-25% travel to Division Markets Education: • Master’s Degree in business or healthcare administration required Experience: • 8-10 years of comparable experience • Experience with strategic planning • Experience working with multiple facilities or geographic regions preferred • HCA Healthcare experience preferred Capital Division which encompasses 19 hospitals overall. Our hospitals include one Level I, three Level II, and four Level III trauma centers. The Capital Division office is located in downtown Richmond, VA.
