Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) - Training Program

Introduction

In this program, you will be introduced to Epic and health center operations.

This program was designed for anyone who enjoys working with data and seeks an opportunity to help community health centers serve patients with greater ease and efficiency. Students of any background can sign up—those new to health care, current industry professionals looking to specialize, or existing data specialists committed to advancing health equity. Note: This program includes both online classroom training and on-site hands-on internship/externship training.

Program Details:

  • This is a training program is M-F, 8A-5P; and has a living stipend.
  • 40 hours per week - 24 weeks (960 Hours) 8- weeks Online Training; 16- weeks onsite Internship
  • Total Compensation: $20,800 (remote learning & in-person work experience)
  • $20 per hour equivalent (paid as a living stipend)
  • Eligible for monthly $600 benefits reimbursements (Participant cost only) - some restrictions apply

Program Objectives

  • Learn to apply specialized health care and database management insights to analyze important clinical data, identify trends, and create targeted reports.
  • Become skilled in generating queries, processing receipts, performing validation checks, substantiating clinical databases, and more.
  • Learn to develop project-specific data management plans that address key areas such as coding, reporting, data transfer, database locks, and workflow processes. · Hybrid course format combines self-learning exercises with instructor-led, on-demand virtual modules
  • Skills introduced: OCHIN EPIC, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Structured Query Language, and Tableau.

Future Role Description:

The EHR Support Analyst (ESA) possesses a deep understanding of Epic and health center operations. This role supports members in numerous areas and serves as a liaison between the member health center and the organization. The ESA facilitates initial and ongoing Epic-related education/coaching via boot camps, webinars, workshops, and one-on-one trainings. The ESA also goes beyond training – connecting system functionality to member operational needs and success metrics. ESAs partner with OCHIN members to support ongoing education, growth, and development. This role also partners with members to strengthen their operational efficiency and expand relevant areas of the ESA program.

Requirements:

The ESA duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide daily support to Epic application users via troubleshooting and coaching.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge in designated EPIC areas as needed to support the ESA program.
  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate learning sessions/training for members in collaboration with project partners including curriculum design, agenda setting, and trainer identification.
  • Identify, assess, and troubleshoot application and equipment issues as they occur.
  • Communicate with OCHIN and OCHIN analysts to achieve issue resolution where/when applicable.
  • Create new Epic User, ELLA, Remote Access, and Provider accounts.
  • Add new printers and workstations to the system and troubleshoot printer issues.
  • Manage error queues and In Basket pools established for member organizations. These include:
  • Lab Interface Error Workqueue
  • Potential Duplicate Workqueue
  • Refill Error Pool
  • E-Prescribing Error Pool
  • Results Routing Error Pool
  • Charge Router Error Pool Workqueue
  • Collaborate with OCHIN to test new features and upgrades monthly for Enhancement Pack and Service Pack updates.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership and users, identifying efficiency-enhancing opportunities in clinic operations and practice support to help improve health outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants MUST LIVE in Marin County
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen/National or have a valid Lawful Permanent Resident Alien (not open to non-citizens or Visa holders)
  • Must have proficient computer experience (MS Windows & MS Suite (Word, Execl, PP, Outlook)
  • Must be able to successfully pass a national criminal background check
  • Ability to type Net 40 wpm
