Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.HDR Engineering is looking for a Data Center (DC) Substation Lead Project Manager (PM) to join our growing local and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals.The primary duties of a DC Substation Lead PM include leading a group of PM’s responsible for planning, scoping, and executing the substation engineering components of mission critical data center substation projects interconnecting with electric utilities and serving as the primary communication interface both internally to HDR teams and externally to a key client. Project delivery model could be Design-Build, teamed with a prime construction contractor, or Design-Bid-Build directly for the Data Center owner.Your mission will be to partner with a Lead Engineering Manager, HDR client teams in our Technology market sector, and our substation project teams, along with our mission critical data center clients, to deliver world class engineering services for multiple concurrent and fast paced data center substation projects across the US, focused on speed to market.Specific duties include:• Primary point of contact for DC substation projects for one or more key clients, with a focus on establishing and implementing a robust, responsive communication approach and relationships, both internally and externally, and leading a team of PM’s.• Rapid deployment of multi-office and multi-business group project teams, including technical leads, QC Reviewers, and Engineer of Record (EOR) by discipline for fast-paced substation design projects, requiring coordination and communication with area operations and business class leadership.• Partner with the Lead Engineering Manager for the client, who is responsible for oversight of the technical execution of our deliverables, to• Develop highly efficient and nimble design teams focused on speed to market and support other PM’s with managing resourcing assignments across all projects.• Facilitate effective workshare with multiple teams across multiple offices.• Monitor and track key milestones and metrics across projects by client utilizing cloud-based document control and project communication platforms.• Coordinate with other PM’s and lead and drive best practices for proposals, execution, and construction support.• Interface with a fast-paced client that changes direction often.• Project management, including understanding contract terms and project risk, project scope/schedule/budget, project initiation, project planning, financial management and controls, team management, change management, and project closeout.• Communication liaison between the technical execution team and the client, including attending project meetings, performing regular client check-ins, and other duties to ensure communication breakdowns do not occur.• Works independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more Assistant PM's and lead a local design team executing one or more projects.• Represents HDR to support marketing and proposal development for new opportunities.Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) with active commitment to obtain P.E. preferred.• Project Management Professional (PMP) or ability to obtain is desired.• Technical experience with high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects of small to medium size and complexity, including at a minimum, conceptual knowledge of physical, electrical, civil, and structural design components.• Minimum 3 years of project management experience in substation.• Minimum 5 years of substation design experience.• Experience with scoping, estimating, and developing switchyard and/or substation data center projects preferred.• Client facing experience, ability to interface effectively with a non-utility client and think on your feet.• Proficient with Microsoft Office and cloud-based document control and project communication platforms.• Knowledge of project scheduling and application in project delivery.• Excellent communication and organizational skills.• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where rapid response is expected.• Position may require some travel, but is not a travel-intensive role.Required Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in related field• 7 years related experience• A minimum of 2 years project management experience• Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We BelieveHDR is our company.
