Job purpose

The Head of Finance ensures Deepcell’s financial health by leading all financial tasks and ensuring Deepcell uses capital and resources optimally.

Working with internal and external teams, the Head of Finance will craft financial strategies and manage teams to create forecasting and budgeting models, ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations, analyze trends and inform the company on how to leverage these, interact with investors and hire and develop a high performing team.

Especially for the first year approximately, this is a “player-coach” role: it requires a lot of hands-on work as well as hiring and developing teams and processes.

Essential functions

Leadership: hire, develop and manage the Finance function and team

Controlling: draft and drive the implementation of the FP&A, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions

Financial planning & analysis (FP&A): drive annual operating and capital budgets, including planning, budgeting, integrated financial planning, performance reporting, forecasting, and modeling, COGS planning.
Procure-to-pay process: drive accounts payable and purchasing, including vendor management, supplier purchase orders, receipt and payment.
Order-to-cash process: ensure fulfillment of customers’ orders, including order management, credit management, order fulfillment, order shipping, customer invoicing, accounts receivable, payments collection.

Treasury & Tax: draft and drive the implementation of the Treasury, Tax and Compliance processesTreasury: ensure that the business has cash to meet its day-to-day business obligations as well as investment plans, including cash management, risk management, and corporate finance management.

Tax and compliance: manage the company’s tax returns and compliance.

Audit: ensure the collection, processing, and presentation of accurate financial data, including quarterly close & audits, reconciliation, financial audits and compliance.

Education, Skills & Experience

Proven work experience as a Head of Finance, Director of Finance or similar roleIn-depth understanding of financial management, accounting, cash flow management, bank reconciliation, tax and treasuryHands-on experience with budgeting and risk managementExcellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting modelsProficiency in accounting software and Enterprise Resource Planning systemsStrong analytical and decision-making abilities Effective leadership qualities BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field MSc/MBA or relevant certification (e.g. CFA/CPA) is a plus
