JOB SUMMARY
The Habit is looking for a Head of Food & Beverage. The Head of Food & Beverage directly reports to Chief Marketing Officer and will be responsible for driving the overall culinary vision for the Habit Burger Grill and leading the development of innovative new food and beverage products in collaboration with the culinary team, suppliers, and other key stakeholders. Ultimately the Head of F&B will be the gatekeeper of food and beverages at the Habit and the architect of the future menu. The ideal candidate in this role will switch between strategic future visioning and day-to-day project delivery to deliver long-term rand growth aspirations and launch new products flawlessly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Create apipeline of new menu items and enhancement/ optimization of existing menu items in line with the brand vision and market research. Innovation and creativity will be balanced with the highest levels of quality, food safety, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and manage the product development budget, timelines, and resources, ensuring that new products are delivered on time, and within budget.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other partners to source high-quality ingredients, equipment, and materials for new product development and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of new products into the restaurant's operations, marketing campaigns, and financial plans.
Key Capability & Skills:
- Culinary expertise: A deep understanding of culinary, including food preparation techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing successful food and beverage products, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Innovation and creativity: The ability to think outside the box and come up with new and exciting ideas for food and beverage products is critical for this role. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a history of developing innovative products that have been successful in the marketplace.
- Operational understanding: Key to the role will be delivering high quality and culinary forward innovation that can be delivered consistently and efficiently by restaurant teams at scale. A deep understanding of operations and the ability to problem-solve for execution will be critical.
- Leadership and collaboration: The Head of New Product Development will need to work closely with cross-functional teams across the organization as well as provide coaching, support, and development to direct reports. Strong leadership and collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.
- Business acumen and process management: Candidates should have a solid understanding of business operations, financial management, and supply chain logistics and manage NPD and EPD pipelines through a cross-functional process.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- A culinary degree, such as a bachelor’s in culinary arts or a related field.
- The culinary experience is essential. Preferably experience as a chef or sous chef in a high-volume restaurant.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of retail/restaurant operations are preferred.
- Necessary knowledge in food safety, HACCP, and sanitation.
- Project management expertise, including the ability to handle projects that require multiple areas of expertise and may require leading-edge inspiration and innovation.
- Broad business acumen and commercial expertise, including a detailed understanding of restaurant P&L statements and reports that support financial success.

- Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in challenging situations.
- Strategic communication skills, including the ability to influence at all levels (including Franchise owners)

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $151,900 to $196,680 annually + bonus eligibility + stock-based compensation. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
