What You'll Do
- Strategic partner and influential contributor to the leadership team, driving high quality risk-weighted decision making
- Identify, research, analyze a wide range of legal topics (e.g. intellectual property, data security, data privacy, labor, corporate structuring) and advise business teams to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Draft, redline, and constantly improve the company’s SaaS and services agreements, balancing company growth with protecting corporate interests; lead legal negotiations with related third parties (customers, partners, etc.)
- Collaborate with go-to-market teams, managing a strong pace of deal flow, prioritizing based on commercial opportunity and providing a high degree of visibility/communication
- Work cross-functionally with the People Ops team to adeptly navigate issues impacting employees
- Lead legal aspects of equity fundraising processes, board-level activities (e.g. minutes; UWCs), and employee equity administration
- Build the company’s vendor management procedures, workflow and documentation
- Oversee and maintain corporate-level registrations and licensing
- Coordinate and manage external law firms and resources when specialist counsel is required
- Maintain knowledge of current and pending legal topics impacting the company’s customer base, partners, and the broader mortgage finance ecosystem
- Participate in ad hoc and new initiatives as needed
What you have:
- 10+ years of relevant legal practice is required including at high growth venture-backed businesses
- Experience negotiating B2B SaaS contracts with large financial institutions is required
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school is required
- Prior working knowledge of the mortgage finance industry is a plus
- Prior working knowledge of Carta is a plus
