The director-level Head of the Global Finance Letter of Credit (L/C) oversees internal and external staff responsible for servicing Letter of Credit business activity. Primary managerial responsibilities are to establish sound policies, define group and individual objectives that are clear and are in line with the Operations department and Natixis’ strategic plan, provide clear constructive feedback on staff performance, define staff development needs, implement training to ensure staff members are fully capable of supporting the business’ in both the short-and long-term timeframes and manage workflow priorities.
In addition, he/she/they are responsible for partnering with all the business lines in the Americas (Global Trade, Infrastructure, Acquisition Sponsor Finance; Aviation), Operations Management, and other support functions to ensure optimal support, customer service, risk management and process improvement. The ideal candidate relevant L/C experience, including but not limited to:
- Workflow management, review, and validation of 1) Documentary LCs; SBLCs Issuances (including Fronting activity). 2) Advised / confirmed / discounted Export L/C’s, including the examination of docs and identifying discrepancies or accepting payment undertaking. 3) Documentary collections process. 4) Payments in connection with underlying L/C’s. 5) Participation L/C maintenance on fronted LCs; reconciliation and processing of periodic fees.
- Produce accurate results in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under time constraints.
- Control and validation of transactions in LIQ and procedures followed.
The salary range for this position will be between $130,000 - $180,000. Natixis is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills set, applicable licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total rewards package. Essential duties and responsibilities
- Contribute to Operations strategic planning.
- Analyze and improve process and workflows focusing on automation.
- Workflow management of SBLCs, Documentary LCs, Export Letter of Credit (Issuance, Amendments, Confirmation and advising of Export LCs, examination and negotiation of documents on Documentary LCs, payments under SBLCs and Documentary LCs, fee invoicing and booking, etc.) in Swift Alliance or on paper and booking in LIQ.
- Process the fee collection and reconciliation of participation L/C’s and investigate when necessary.
- Issue fronting LCs on behalf of a bank group in syndicated transactions.
- Fulfill Doc Collections (URC522) as requested.
- Deliver high quality service to customers in line with agreed services and ensuring all process, policies and controls are followed by the team.
- Understands and applies legal and regulatory requirements such as anti-boycott regulations, OFAC, AML and red flag indicators.
- Close monitoring of all applicable Natixis bank accounts, including house accounts and individual customer DDA accounts to always ensure proper account balances.
- Daily reconciliation of all USD and foreign currency activity. Items left open in Corona must be properly labeled with owner’s name, detailed comments, label date and clearance date (if known). Past-Due Exception Reports to be monitored.
- Maintain strong working relationship with Collateral Team on uncommitted transactions to ensure quick processing times and unified front to client.
- Review & respond to all Front Office and customer email inquiries.
- Dialogue with Front Office, supervisor, and any other teams as necessary / elevation of problematic situations.
- Review daily work of outsource work provided by Broadridge and Acuity when necessary.
- Staff and performance Management.
- Planning management.
- Quality control on activities performed by LC team and Outsourced work to Broadridge and Acuity.
Undergraduate degree in Finance or comparable experience with Letters of Credit
7+ years of relevant L/C experience
5 to 10 years of document examination
Knowledge of Excel & Word, Loan IQ, and Swift.
Effective written and verbal communications as well as a keen sense of detail orientation are also required.
Must possess strong and thorough knowledge of Uniform Customs & Practices, ICC Publication 600, and International Standby Practices 1998 (ISP98) ICC Pub 590, Uniform Rules for Bank-to-Bank Reimbursements ICC Pub. 525 and Uniform Rules for Collections ICC Pub 522.
Thorough Commercial and Standby Letters of Credit transaction knowledge is required.
