About the Role:

ClosedLoop is looking for an exceptional Austin, Texas-based Head of People. As a key member of the leadership team, this person will be our first Head of People and lead employee experience, recruiting, learning and development, employment compliance, and performance management responsibilities across ClosedLoop. ClosedLoop is looking for a strong hands-on leader with a proven track record supporting the scaling of a business growing rapidly. This role will report to the CEO.

This person will be passionate about understanding our employees' needs and creating solutions that maximize their performance at ClosedLoop. The leader is expected to be a team player who lives ClosedLoop's cultural values, sets an example for others, and puts in systems to constantly enhance the culture. They should also be able to execute tactically in player-coach mode as needed and have the strong communication skills to inspire others in their role as a team builder and strategic visionary.

Everything about ClosedLoop is about using data to make better decisions. This role will be no exception. The successful candidate will have a data-driven mindset and be able to explain their thought processes both quantitatively and qualitatively.


Responsibilities:

  • Vision and Strategy: Work with strategic stakeholders (including the rest of the executive team) to collaboratively set and execute the long-term vision for key people operation functions, consistently improving effectiveness, and helping us achieve our overall business goals; drive future organizational design and change management initiatives to help maintain a high-performing, motivated, and impactful team.
  • Values and Culture: Help memorialize and promote our company values and ensure that all decisions, programs, and processes are aligned with our core beliefs. Help us to scale the organization quickly while maintaining our amazing, empowering culture.
  • Performance Management, Rewards, and Recognition: Create a company-wide performance management program to help us identify high and low performers, promote and reward excellence, and drive continuous, transparent feedback across all disciplines
  • Professional Development: Build scalable professional development programs that aid in growing our team's capabilities and drive employee retention
  • Management and Leadership Training: Drive scalable solutions around making our leaders better managers; provide coaching and feedback to our existing leadership team and develop programs that prepare high-potential employees for management roles
  • Compensation and Benefits: Analyze existing compensation packages and plan future comp across all functions; benchmark our current benefits package, and strategize for additional benefits to support our strategic goals as we scale
  • Recruiting: At the core of this role is making sure we have the best resources on our team. This means owning the recruiting function, managing the Director of Talent Acquisition, and working with our team to identify, recruit, and onboard the best talent for ClosedLoop.
  • Data and Compliance: Improve the collection and use of people-related data to aid in better decision making; develop key metrics to measure employee happiness, performance, engagement, and retention. Ensure compliance with all employment, benefits, and payroll laws in each state where we have employees.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of direct Human Resources experience, with 5+ years leading HR teams in high-growth companies, and at least 2 years at the executive level
  • Proven ability to influence and drive change with executive teams and across startup organizations, aligning the people strategy with business goals and growth
  • Proven success in delivering high-impact people operations programs around performance management, culture, employee engagement, and retention
  • Track record of being a People Ops business partner to executives across a variety of functional areas, and a demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and staff
  • Experience owning compensation planning from start to finish
  • Expertise in coaching across the full spectrum of seniority
  • Ability to think strategically, but also focus on tactical and operational issues
  • Demonstrated success in environments with a heavy remote/hybrid workforce emphasis
  • Venture capital-backed company leadership experience
