Head of Sales Marketing

The Head of Sales Marketing is responsible for key strategy and marketplace initiatives to support the Brand Partnership team’s efforts to monetize Zynga’s Network of Mobile Games. As a Mobile Marketing Expert, this role will leverage strong marketing expertise, creativity and strategic vision to craft compelling value propositions and persuasive stories for the Zynga Ad Sales force to take to Brand Advertisers. The Head of Sales Marketing will work closely with, and report directly to the Head of Ad Sales to develop Sales Strategy and a narrative of ‘why mobile games’ for brands. This position requires diverse knowledge of Sponsorships/Integrations, Display/Video, Private Programmatic and experience as a people manager.

As a lead conduit between the Game teams, Product teams, Sales, Account Management, Trade Marketing and Ad Ops teams, this position will work with the Sales Marketing Manager to ensure all opportunities are sellable, executable and align with the Ad Monetization team’s priorities and goals. The Head of Sales Marketing will lead collaboration with internal teams to develop new advertising opportunities based on market demand including Media Packages and 360 Integrated Opportunities that leverage the unique qualities of Mobile Gaming. An in-depth understanding of Engagement, Game Mechanics and Premium In-game media is required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategy in partnership with Head of Brand Partnerships to create and maintain a variety of sales collateral, including Media Kits, Sponsorship Slides, Private Programmatic Slides, Meeting Deck Support, etc. Design the sale marketing and promotion strategy – to define goals, identify opportunities and design approaches.
  • Support National Sales team with new opportunities and positioning, collaborate with internal Consumer Insights and Director of Ad Tech and Data on Research relevant for Ad Sales Team. Brainstorm with Sales ahead of RFP’s, Proactive Proposals, Client Meetings.
  • As part of the Brand Partnership Leadership team, the Head of Sales Marketing will participate in public speaking opportunities to educate and evangelize how Zynga can play a key role in reaching brand KPIs in the gaming ecosystem.
  • Work directly with the games teams to create custom in game integrations/sponsorship packages for outbound sales teams, and ultimately execution details for AM’s.
  • Collaborate with Head of Brand Partnerships on Sales Strategy, Trade Marketing and Thought Leadership
  • Work directly with the account management teams by providing RFP support, pre-sales support on custom packages and working together with post sales on how to execute (timelines, specs, approvals, etc.).
  • Manage the packaging pipeline so sales leadership can identify sell-through and optimize sales efforts.
  • Manage the sales pipeline with the games team so they are always in the know on new and upcoming sales pitches.
  • Must possess a true passion for advertising and working to drive new forms of brand and performance-based ad products.
  • Ensure that all Account Executives are equipped with a value-based selling approach by identifying relevant customer needs and objectives and providing relevant advertising solutions to meet those needs.
  • Command an expert understanding of advertising competitors and their product lines, and knowledge of how to sell against them.
  • Collaborate with Brand and Legal teams to ensure all campaign concepts and assets are compliant with the company.
  • Help implement and utilize current work processes and develop new methods to further streamline workflow with a focus on education, product knowledge across the national team and gaming capabilities.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years online marketing experience; publisher, agency and/or client-side experience is strongly preferred.
  • A track record of success building high-impact, strategic relationships with brand partners.
  • Proven expertise in supporting the development, production and delivery of compelling ad product solutions and packages.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Works well under pressure, independently and collaboratively with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • 2+ years experience as people manager
  • Ability to build and develop a strong sales marketing team according to growth priorities and business rationale.
  • Fully proficient in business and collaboration software to successfully engage with stakeholders and drive work: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Keynote, Google Docs/Sheets, Photoshop (not required but preferred)
