Introduction to the job

Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

As the Head of San Diego S&P (given size, supplier base, local R&D and manufacturing) this person is part of the US S&P management team and will represent and manage S&P in San Diego, ensuring local requirements are adequately represented in category strategies and vice versa.

The mission as S&P Director San Diego is to secure on-time and first-time-right Material Availability at point-of-use in the San Diego Factories (CT and CLS). Streamlining the S&P processes and manages the long-term Supply Chain & Logistics capability focusing on supplier quality, supply performance management, product lifecycle management, material planning and shared services (warehousing/shipping). This is a leadership role in San Diego and leads a total team of ~100 employees (fixed and flex). The key interfaces are with Suppliers, Manufacturing Operations, Development programs.

Strategic vision:

  • Representation of regional S&P challenges and issues towards site management teams, S&P management team members and relevant category managers.

Manage accounts:

  • Manage regional sourcing including Account Leads (AL), Project lead(s) (PL), and Team Leads (TL).

  • Orchestrate activities of the regional AL’s to ensure excellent key supplier management and goal alignment for suppliers involved in multiple categories.

  • Support regional AL’s in ensuring local requirements are adequately represented in the category strategies and contractual arrangements with global suppliers.

  • Resolve bottlenecks together with Group Supplier Managers and/or Team leads.

  • Have an own supplier responsibility, in case of a new and / or critical local supply base.

Formal decision making:

  • Represent S&P in local management team(s).

  • Accountable for the results of the sum of local suppliers.

  • Empowered for the operational management of local suppliers, including SRM, within the boundaries of the category strategy.

  • Responsible for all tasks involved in People Management and staffing of their region: develop capabilities, manage performance and secure succession.

As part of the San Diego senior leadership team, this person is responsible for the following areas:

  • OSM OPPROC

  • LSM QSM

Config Management:

  • Engineering change management.

  • Master Data and Configuration Management.

Supplier Performance Management:

  • Secure Logistics infrastructure at suppliers to ensure future Move Rate readiness.

  • Supplier escalation management in case of late delivery.

  • Drive cycle time reduction and delivery performance.

  • Supplier N-Tier capability management.

Supplier Quality Management:

  • Supply Chain engineering – responsible for supplier quality root-cause analysis, corrective action including product failure (DOA) investigations.

  • Incoming Quality Inspection – supplier material inspections for critical parts, first lot parts and new supplier selection.

KPI’s Head of San Diego S&P:

  • People: approx. 100 FTE

  • Spend: approx. 300 M€

  • Suppliers: Supporting San Diego, also regional suppliers supplying to other ASML locations.

Education and experience

  • Min 15 years of leadership experience in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Sourcing or related function in a complex High-Tech production environment.

  • Master’s Degree. Sourcing, Supply Chain Management and Logistics is a plus.

  • Experience with working in an international setting.

  • Advanced knowledge of planning and supply chain processes.

  • Working with a supplier ecosystem.

  • Basic understanding of ERP system functionality.

  • Process thinker with an integral Sourcing / Procurement and Supply Chain view.

  • Structured problem solver with the ability to define and drive structural solutions.

  • Good communication skills on all levels with multiple stakeholders (Suppliers – Development – Manufacturing – Headquarters etc.).

  • Excellent people leadership skills and ability to engage, develop and motivate people.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $247,125-$411,875. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
