Head of Payments

BentoBox empowers restaurants to own their presence, profits and relationships. The hospitality platform disrupts third-party services that come between the restaurant and the guest. In order to help restaurants own their profits, we are enhancing our product suite with a first-party payment solution that helps restaurants onboard more easily, respond to fraud, and minimize fees. We are looking for a Head of Payments to drive this critical cross-functional initiative, working directly with the Engineering team to build technical payment capabilities, the Support team to build processes to help customers respond to chargebacks, the Business Development team to partner with third-party payment services, and numerous other departments as we bring new payment capabilities to market. 


What You’ll Do:


  • Define the company’s payments strategy and product roadmap in collaboration with leadership through competitive research, customer discovery, and data analysis
  • Work closely with Engineering, Business Development, Support, Customer Success and Operations to drive payments initiatives from ideation through requirements, execution, and launch
  • Evaluate payments partners and manage partner relationships in collaboration with Business Development
  • Build in-house capabilities and processes to manage payments fraud, risk and compliance in collaboration with the Support, Customer Success, Finance and Operations teams
  • Lead agile development ceremonies and manage substantial rollouts impacting Support, Customer Success, Operations, Marketing, and Sales
  • Define, monitor, and analyze payments KPIs and use learnings to improve prioritization, processes and development
  • Clearly track and communicate product plans, trade-offs, and results to a wide range of audiences


What You’ll Bring:


  • 7+ years of experience in online payments - preferably with a focus on e-commerce payments for SMB merchants
  • Deep understanding of payments technologies, fraud, risk, and compliance, as well as the main players in the payments industry
  • 5+ years of product management or equivalent experience working with engineering teams on complex, technical projects
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and shipping software from ideation through execution
  • Experience working with Business Development to develop partnerships and build integrations with external APIs
  • Experience working with payments fraud and support teams
  • Great analytical skills and familiarity with payments KPIs and analytics tools
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, accommodating both engineers and business stakeholders
  • Passion for the restaurant industry

  • Experience building B2B or B2C payment solutions for SMB e-commerce merchants
