Job Description
The Enterprise Data Team is looking for a Data Analyst, Data Product Development who will be a critical part of our data-driven decision-making process. The role will work to extract actionable insights from various sets of first party consumer data and content-related datasets to drive informed decision-making. Reporting to the SVP of Data Product Development, this role is... responsible for developing various analyses across several business units related to audience insights, identity resolution, and content performance. You will partner with business and technical leadership to develop a world-class Enterprise Data function, supporting all divisions within Hearst Consumer Media. The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial ethos, an ability to operate in a dynamic environment, and a working knowledge of the current digital media landscape. This role is based on New York City.
Key Responsibilities
• Use various advanced tools and analytical practices to present detailed pictures of overall performance and user engagement across all touchpoints, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions.
• Analyze and interpret large datasets through the extraction of relevant data including data integrations with internal systems and 3rd party operational platforms.
• Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders with an eye on what drives business performance and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and productivity.
• Develop and maintain reports to track KPIs related to measurement of identity resolution efforts, consumer engagement, content consumption, and advertising effectiveness.
• Develop, run, and manage queries related to insights generation on both an on-going and ad hoc basis.
• Utilize data visualization tools to communicate performance metrics effectively.
• Develop and nurture internal relationships with data leads across Hearst Consumer Media.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field of study (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or related).
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, analytics, and/or data engineering, preferably in a media, publishing or marketing capacity.
• Proficiency in writing SQL, including experience in data mining and data warehouses (Redshift, Big Query).
• Experience in identity and audience measurement solutions.
• Advanced ability to build reports and dashboards with BI tools (such as Looker or Tableau)
• Critical thinker with strong writing, communication, presentation development, and delivery skills.
In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $100,000 to $115,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
