Veterinary Technician – Surgery  
Full-time: 3 day, 12 hour shifts or 4 day, 10 hour shifts. On-call required
Surgery Department Hours: 6am-7pm 
Round Rock, TX  
 
Heart of Texas is looking for a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
As a Surgery Vet Tech, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
 
Role Responsibilities:

Surgical and anesthesia technicians perform a variety of animal-health duties and ensure quality pet and client care. They should be proficient in duties including but not limited to: pet parent communication, anesthesia, patient monitoring, venipuncture, patient recovery, and medical math. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of anesthetics, surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging, laboratory techniques, and  general patient care. They should be able to remain calm during stressful situations. 
 
Our Ideal Candidate: 
  • Has knowledge of basic veterinary practices
  • Able to appropriately handle animals
  • Able to assist in veterinary medical procedures
  • Recent experience in a veterinary practice
  • Willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
 
 Job Requirements:
  • At least 3 years recent experience in veterinary practice 
  • Ability to perform routine veterinary medical procedures 
  • Patient care experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Veterinary Technician license is preferred
