Mid-Level Design and Development Engineer

Position Summary: Hendrick Motorsports is seeking a talented and innovative Mid-Level Design and Development Engineer to join our technical solutions team. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to develop and implement cutting-edge design solutions. You will contribute to the creation of advanced products and systems, ensuring they meet the demanding standards of the defense industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and business development teams to understand project requirements and design objectives.

  • Conduct rapid assessments of engineering concepts across various fields.

  • Perform trade studies and physics-based analyses for complex engineering challenges.

  • Design, implement, and test sophisticated electromechanical systems.

  • Create detailed technical drawings, 2D/3D models, and specifications suitable for rugged environments.

  • Participate in product design reviews and provide ideas for design improvements.

  • Take ownership of projects, including setting timelines and achieving goals.

  • Conduct research to gather relevant technical data and support design decisions.

  • Assist in performing engineering calculations and simulations.

  • Support the development and testing of prototypes, documenting findings, and providing feedback for improvement.

  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineers on the integration of electrical systems into vehicle architecture, considering space, weight, and thermal management.

  • Mentor junior engineers and interns, offering guidance and support.

  • Assist in the documentation and maintenance of design files and records.

  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and changing roles.

  • Work within an ISO and PPAP quality domain.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in motorsports, military, or the automotive industry. Previous motorsports engineering experience is highly valued.

    • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards is a plus.

    • Demonstrated leadership in prior professional projects.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Advanced proficiency with CAD software, particularly Siemens NX and Teamcenter.

    • Experience with FEA, specifically Ansys, is a plus.

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Certificates and Licenses:

    • Valid Driver’s License required.

    • This role is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements. U.S. Citizenship, Permanent Resident, or U.S. Person status required.

Work Environment:

  • Work is typically performed in an interior office environment, though you may be exposed to fumes, loud noises, and chemicals.

  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and working in various postures.

  • The position may require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.
