Software Engineering Manager

HHAeXchange, is hiring a full-time Software Engineering Manager to lead one or more of our engineering teams. This individual will collaborate with our Production Operations department and other stakeholders to define and commit engineering resources to software projects, track delivery of those projects, and advocate for added resources and escalate delivery risks. This role will be involved in hiring, training, and performance evaluations of multiple engineers, and help to continuously improve the team’s Agile Scrum practices. Both engineering experience and team management experience are required.

Essential Job Duties
  • Collaborate with our Production Operations department and other stakeholders to define and commit team engineering resources to software projects
  • Track delivery of committed projects, and advocate for new engineering resources and escalate delivery risks as needed
  • Continuously help to define and refine team software development processes, leveraging Agile and Scrum frameworks where possible to increase team throughput
  • Advocate for engineering excellence to increase throughput, reduce disruptive bugs, and reduce feature rework
  • Advocate for DevOps excellence and other investments and optimizations to increase team throughput
  • Support the recruitment of engineering personnel and help guide team formation and structures
  • Supervise the training and development of engineering staff
  • Work with Support, Implementation, and Client Success Managers to understand client needs and pain points, and triage and resolve client issues
  • Work with product to understand the product domain and vision


Travel Requirements
  • Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel


Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills
  • 5+yearsof full-stack web development experience (experience with Ruby on Rails a plus)
  • 2+ year experience managing software teams (experience managing both onshore and offshore engineers a plus)
  • Agile methodology and Scrum framework deep knowledge and experience
  • Modern engineering best practices—such as the 12 Factor App methodology—knowledge and experience
  • Continuous Delivery and release engineering knowledge and experience
  • AWS and cloud native knowledge and experience
  • An entrepreneurial mindset that is open to changes and flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to contextualize a problem and understand who the stakeholders are and how success will be measured
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience


The base salary range for this US-based, full-time, and exempt position is $140,000-155,000, not including variable compensation. An employee’s exact starting salary will be based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.
