UChicago Hillel is seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Student and Community Engagement to join our professional team. We are looking for someone with energy, superb organizational and communication skills, and a strong commitment to Jewish life. You will build relationships with students, while creating programs around campus that are impactful, and of high quality.
We have an estimated 800 Jewish students at the University of Chicago and there is not a one size fits all approach for how we can reach them all. You will have the chance to learn from what works, build connections between students and have the opportunity to develop meaningful Jewish experiences. In addition, you will be part of a team that is creating interfaith, social justice, and social change impact on campus and the Southside community.
The Newberger Hillel offers a competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace along with a comprehensive benefits package. The salary range for this role is $55,000-$65,000. The position includes Jewish professional growth opportunities, great supervision, and work on a college campus with a dynamic, collaborative team.
The University of Chicago is located in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the shores of Lake Michigan. One of the world's premier academic and research institutions, the University of Chicago is an intellectual destination drawing scholars to campus and keeping UChicago at the nexus of ideas that challenge and change the world.
Founded in 1940, Hillel serves as the home to more than a dozen Jewish student organizations, and supports Jewish life on campus for more than 1500 undergraduate and graduate students. The Newberger Hillel offers diverse, pluralistic and innovative ways to engage in Jewish life on campus as in an integral part of the University community. Hillel is centrally located in an historic building located one block from the main campus.
In 1923, Rabbi Benjamin Frankel started Hillel with humble means, a noble mission and a breathtaking vision: to convey Jewish civilization to a new generation. Today, Hillel International continues to enrich the lives of Jewish students and is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world at more than 550 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. As Hillel evolves as an organization, the mission remains steadfast: to create lasting connections with every Jewish student that foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel and train them to become the next Jewish leaders.
Hillel is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an accepting and inclusive environment for all.
