About the role
As Hokodo heads towards its Series C, we need to evolve the maturity of the ‘forward looking’ parts of the finance function to support the scale and growing complexity of the business. The Capital Markets Analyst will gain valuable experience in corporate finance and will have the opportunity to grow their career within Hokodo.
The Capital Markets Analyst will support the Strategic Finance Lead to:
Manage and optimise Hokodo’s treasury processes and debt facility to ensure we can always pay our merchants on time.
Support the wider finance function to build robust and scalable processes and reporting, including automating tasks where possible
Support on developing our FP&A processes so we can more effectively manage our burn and our unit economics.
As a lending business, managing our debt financing is a critical aspect of Hokodo’s operations; the Capital Markets Analyst will create significant impact by administering and optimising Hokodo’s receivables backed securitisation facility and ensuring that the Hokodo group always has sufficient liquidity to meet its funding obligations while managing compliance with lender covenants and optimising funding costs.
Location
We would like you to work from our office in London two days per week, joining our team of dedicated professionals and making your mark on the world of B2B e-commerce.
About Hokodo
We’re an international and diverse team, based in London, Vilnius and Paris, working to modernise B2B payments.
Our B2B Buy Now, Pay Later solution enables merchants to offer credit terms to their business customers instantly, resulting in a 40% average increase in revenue for integrated merchants.
We are scaling rapidly across Western Europe, with a list of stellar clients and have raised a total of over $50 million to support our mission of enabling 1 million businesses to access a better way to pay.
Join us in our efforts, as we have already made good progress with 50,000+ businesses regularly using Hokodo, but need your support to take us to the next level!
What you’ll be doing - If you get excited by the following, this is the role for you.
Debt Facility Operations: You will be responsible for administering Hokodo’s receivables backed securitisation facility, ensuring that we always have sufficient liquidity to meet our funding obligations while maintaining compliance with our covenants and regulatory requirements.
Cash Flow Forecasting: You’ll leverage your financial modelling skills to build robust cash forecasting, helping us to manage our liquidity risk better.
Investor Relations: You’ll be a point of contact for questions from our lenders (Viola Credit), will be responsible for preparing reporting and will help to grow and nurture the relationship with them.
Process Optimisation: You’ll work with the wider finance team to identify areas where we can improve our core processes and reporting, including identifying where to automate processes where possible.
Business Partnering: You’ll support the Strategic Finance Lead with the annual budgeting process and partner with teams across the business to develop and deliver the operational plan.
Who we’re looking for - At Hokodo, we prioritise hiring individuals who share our mission and values, and possess the right attitudes and behaviours for success. While some of the listed requirements may be important, don't worry if you don't meet all of them, we’d still like to hear from you.
Corporate Finance Experience: You’ll have 1 to 3 years of experience in a fast-paced, quantitative role with a strong understanding of corporate finance.
Advanced Excel skills: You’ll be highly competent and confident with Excel, including experience building financial models to project cashflows, P&L/Balance Sheet, and to support valuations. Exposure to advanced Excel features (PowerQuery, Dynamic Arrays, VBA etc.) is a plus.
Deeply Analytical: You will be comfortable structuring and processing large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data, and will be able to draw insightful conclusions at pace.
Fast Learner: You will have a demonstrated ability to quickly and proficiently absorb and understand new information and develop new skills, especially in a fast changing environment.
Strong attention to detail: You have strong attention to detail and can spot an error in a document or analysis before others (and avoid making these mistakes in the first place). You will have a strong grasp over the details, even when the subject matter is complex.
Nice to have:
Formal finance qualification: Ideally you will be working towards (or will have obtained) a relevant corporate finance qualification (e.g. ACA, CISI Corporate Finance Diploma, CFA, ACT)
BI/Data Skills: You will be data literate with an understanding of how to use BI tooling (particularly Looker) to obtain relevant data and build reporting; if you can write SQL queries or are willing to learn, even better.
Process improvement experience: You’ll be capable of deconstructing, analysing and optimising a process flow, including understand where, when and how to automate.
Experience with structured finance/securitisations: You’ll understand securitisation structures, documentation and related modelling e.g. familiarity with concepts like borrowing base financing, eligibility criteria/concentration limits, priorities of payments. Experience in debt advisory or leveraged finance would also be valued.
