About the Role: Are you a hands-on and detail-oriented HR Generalist looking to work for a mission-driven organization that is advancing the discovery and sharing of scientific knowledge? If you answered “Yes!” we want to hear from you. We seek a dedicated and proactive HR Generalist to join our People & Culture team at Rockefeller University in New York. You will support HHMI employees working at scientific research labs and administrative offices through their employment life cycle (e.g., orientation, onboarding, compensation, benefits, learning and development, performance, employee relations, offboarding, etc.). You will collaborate with HR Business Partners, Science Operations Partners, and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to deliver an outstanding employee experience and drive engagement. What You'll Do: Support HHMI's scientific labs and administrative offices by ensuring that recruitment efforts and related system transactions are completed promptly and accurately. Facilitate and coordinate new employee orientation, ensuring a positive and seamless experience. Respond promptly to employment-related inquiries (e.g., benefits, compensation, policy, etc.) and escalate matters to COEs and other partners as needed. Ensure new hires complete all required employment forms (e.g., I-9), compliance training, and policy certifications on time. Assist HR Business Partners in identifying, investigating, and resolving matters related to employment relations. Generate ad-hoc employment letters (e.g., for employee promotion, equity increase, status change, transfer, etc.). Support the annual performance management, salary planning processes and other yearly events. Facilitate the flow of HR-related information and best practices (e.g., policies, procedures, processes, etc.) across locations. Actively participate in departmental and organization-wide projects on process improvements and system enhancements. Periodically travel to HHMI’s headquarters campus in Chevy Chase, MD, and various lab sites to provide HR support and build working relationships with HHMI employees. What You Bring: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required. 3 to 5 years of HR experience handling various aspects of the employee life cycle. Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), HRIS systems, timekeeping, and applicant tracking systems is required. Experience with Workday and MS Teams is preferred. Solid understanding of employment laws and practices. Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to conduct presentations and training. A focus and passion for delivering excellent customer service to all employees. A self-starter with high attention to detail and strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Physical Requirements: Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. Compensation Range $68,417.60 (minimum) - $85,522.00 (midpoint) - $111,178.60 (maximum) Pay Type: Annual HHMI’s salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
