About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
Led by the Manager, HR Administration, the HR Associate is responsible for the administration and processing of all staff, full-time and part-time faculty, temporary non-students, volunteers, interns, and both paid and unpaid appointments, including visiting faculty, visiting scholars, visiting students, and courtesy appointments within their designated portfolio in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences. The HR Associate will ensure that all human resources operational activities for their respective portfolio are completed timely and accurately in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. The HR Associate will dedicate a primary focus on their portfolio but may be asked to shift and temporarily assist with HR tasks within another area in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences.
The HR Associate supports the College’s hiring managers by providing expertise, guidance and transactional support through hiring, onboarding, and offboarding practices for full-time, part-time, temporary, and international employment. The HR Associate also provides guidance to managers, faculty and staff on a wide range of human resources topics and, when necessary, is an intermediary between managers, new hires and University Human Resources to resolve issues related to hiring, data accuracy, benefits, payroll, compliance, time tracking, etc.
The HR Associate will monitor visa and funding expirations, facilitate employment/visa extensions and terminations, and faculty and staff contracts, as appropriate. This individual will respond to staff/faculty inquiries in their portfolio, which requires a comprehensive knowledge of HR policies and procedures. In addition, the HR Associate provides support to their portfolio in the overall spring salary review, performance appraisal and merit process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and skills required for this position are typically obtained through a related bachelor's degree or equivalent plus at least 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in Human Resources Management.
Experience working in a higher education or non-profit setting preferred.
Experience with Workday strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in handling all information, especially confidential, is essential.
Knowledge of human resources policies/procedures, programs and related employment laws.
Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required.
Candidate must also be able to work accurately and effectively with salary data and confidential information; demonstrate skills in teamwork and collaboration; have a high level of proficiency in MS Office applications [Outlook, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word].
Ability to work under tight deadlines and to efficiently multi-task while providing optimal results and customer service required.
The primary work location for this position is the Boston, MA campus. This position currently operates under a hybrid model, requiring a combination of on-campus presence along with a remote work option. The remote work location must be reviewed and approved. The specific work schedule will be dependent upon the operational needs of the college, and the hybrid model is subject to change based on business needs and college and university policies and guidance. The interview process will begin immediately and may be conducted remotely or in person.
