The base

We are based at 7 Bryant Park in the heart of NYC. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model, with a requirement that our HR Business Partner be in the office 3 days per week. This is to sustain our culture of innovation, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and building relationships with the business.


The team

Reporting to the Head of HR – Americas, you will be part of the global HR team who proactively support business strategy in the areas below:


Trusted Partner

  • Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, demonstrating your ability to empathise and create trust in order to achieve desired results
  • Quickly build credibility, drive HR strategy and provide commercial and pragmatic advice in relation to business issues
  • Demonstrate that you are able to analyse data to inform the business and support effective decision making

Strategic Growth

  • Closely support the firm’s organic growth plans
  • Able to work in an entrepreneurial environment and be a problem solver

Talent Management and Learning

  • Work in partnership with the business to identify critical roles, develop succession plans and support the development and retention of our people
  • Partner closely with the Talent team in London to deliver talent initiatives across the region
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition Partner and external search partners to implement hiring plans, acquiring the best and most diverse talent in the market
  • Support the identification, development and retention of talented individuals, bringing challenge and creativity into development discussions
  • An advocate for diverse and inclusive practices and policies, actively supporting the firm’s aim of becoming the employer of choice within the Financial Services industry

Employee Relations

  • Coach line managers, driving through change and effective delivery of the people agenda.
  • Partner closely with internal legal counsel to proactively identify employee relations issues, advise on strategies for dispute resolution, and risk mitigation
  • Provide HR support for business changes e.g. restructuring activity, cost reduction, and organisational design change
  • Manage grievance, disciplinary and capability investigations and hearings, understanding the associated risks and providing credible options for resolution, considering the company’s risk profile
  • Ensure Human Resources matters are handled fairly and consistently within scope of established legislation, guidelines and practices
  • Partner with compliance and legal to ensure all regulatory matters are managed effectively

Compensation/Mobility

  • Understand, influence and apply the firm’s compensation philosophy through proactive consultation with the business and in partnership with the compensation team.
  • Manage ad hoc compensation queries, such as out of cycle salary increases and can challenge the business when appropriate
  • Manage the international assignment process, identifying and promoting global mobility to support business growth and career development where appropriate.
  • Partner with the HR Advisor to manage immigration as it relates to existing employees and new hires
  • Partner with the HR Advisor to manage the annual compensation cycle.

Who we’re looking for

We're looking for an inspiring HR Business Partner to join our global HR team. This is a New York based role supporting our North American business and covering the full generalist HR remit. You will be an advisor and a true partner to the business to provide insight, challenge and your HR expertise. You will have the support of an HR Advisor and an HR Assistant you will be expected to work closely with our specialist HR teams based in London to provide a seamless HR service to the business.


Supporting a region of key strategic growth, this position requires a highly competent HR professional with experience gained within a financial services or professional services firm. Your ability to develop deep client relationships and to be a driver and facilitator of HR strategy and implementation will be critical to your success in this role.


What you’ll need to do


Schroders is growing and changing all the time. Your role is to help people get through this change, both managers and employees. Specifically this will include:

  • Provide HR consulting directly to management teams, ranging from informed counsel on people strategy to excellent execution of people programs and policies
  • Embed a culture of customer service and continuous improvement
  • Create sustainable, data driven solutions to individual employee challenges
  • Develop strong relationships across your client base and be able to interact at all levels within the organisation
  • Drive organisational performance by understanding business objectives and providing proactive HR support.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications we’re looking for

  • Highly articulate with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences
  • Strong analytical skills and the proven ability to develop commercially focused solutions.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to adapt style to different audiences.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • An ability to work at pace and in an agile way
  • Excellent understanding of NYS Employment Law and evidence of practical application
  • Experience with using market compensation surveys, such as McLagan, would be preferable
  • Experience with a talent development tool such as Hogan, MBTI or Clifton Strengths would be advantageous.

Compensation

Schroders offers a base salary in a range of $145,000 to $165,000 for this position.


The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
