General Description:
We seek a self-motivated scientist / engineer with strong communication and leadership skills to serve as the Group Leader (first line manager) for the Hardware Modeling & Analysis Group within the Mixed-Signal Systems Solutions department at HRL Laboratories. This group is focused on characterizing signal integrity and power integrity of hardware sub-systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
As first line manager to a small group of technical staff, the candidate will help guide team members’ careers by providing opportunities for development and holding regular formal and informal feedback discussions.
Essential Duties:
The role consists of roughly 25% management and 75% technical contributions.
Manage resources (e.g. allocating team personnel to projects) and acquire talent (e.g. recruiting)
Improve group member performance through informal and formal feedback
Direct and influence strategic planning and technical direction within the department and across the broader reach of HRL departments, laboratories, and projects
Contribute technically through direct technical work and/or technical project leadership. Skills and capabilities should be aligned with one or more of the following areas: signal integrity and power integrity analysis; EM theory and modeling techniques; hands-on signal validation and analysis verification including material, de-embedding, and component characterization; power delivery modeling, simulation, and characterization for die, package, and board.
Required Skills:
At least 3 years of experience in a role involving leadership of highly trained technical staff.
Demonstrated experience with successful resource allocation and management.
Experience with line management functions, such as drafting of job descriptions, hiring staff, and providing critical feedback to staff.
Modeling and simulation.
Competency with SI/PI CAD tools (e.g. Ansys HFSS, SIwave) and circuit simulators (e.g. Spectre, HSPICE, LTSpice)
Experience with laboratory test equipment and hardware characterization methods.
Required Education:
MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related scientific discipline
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Active SSBI is a plus.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $163,150 - $209,088 + bonus + benefits.
