Human Resource Generalist

Position Summary:

Administers and provides functional support for multiple areas of Human Resources, including but not limited to talent acquisition, HRIS administration, health and wellness benefits, policy and procedure administration, training and development, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance and labor relations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts recruitment efforts including job postings, phone screening, interview scheduling, resume and applicant tracking, candidate communications, background verifications, reference checks and hiring processing for all open positions as needed

  • Coordinate job bidding for all positions open in the plant, if applicable. Includes interviewing, selection and job offers

  • Participate in employment events such as on-site college recruiting and job fairs

  • Participates in employee onboarding and conducting new hire orientation

  • Counsel potential, current and previous employees on health and well-being benefits, compensation and corporate programs.

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures, assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and related documents as needed.

  • Investigate, document and make recommendations to effectively resolve employee relations, ethics or compliance issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures or government law.

  • Maintains Human Resources Information Systems, organization charts, and ensures accurate data entry.

  • Administers and tracks leaves of absence and attendance and is a backup for payroll.

  • Ensures employee records are in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Assist in organizing employee engagement activities and wellness program initiatives.

  • Conduct exit interviews and manage related off boarding procedures for departing employees.

  • Administers unemployment inquiry and workers compensation claims.

  • Conducts training and administers performance management for all employees.

  • Assists with Affirmative Action Planning and all required updates, reporting and documentation and ensuring all federal and state requirements are met.

  • Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to the location, corporate, and customer standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO14001.

  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations; ensure federal and state posters are current and posted in locations.

  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.

Education and Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree required. Prefer concentration in Human Resources Management, Business, Organizational Communication, or Industrial Psychology

  • Three plus years of Human Resource experience

  • PHR Certification preferred

  • Basic knowledge of Human Resources, policy interpretations and legal requirements

  • Maintain confidential information appropriately and exercise discretion and sensitivity

  • Works independently and provides guidance to others

  • Works within guidelines and policies to achieve objectives and deadlines

  • Proficient in MS office, HRIS and other software programs

  • Proficient written and oral communication skills

  • Attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary

  • Ability to work split shifts, as necessary

Work Environment/Work Conditions:

  • Professional Office Environment

  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor

  • Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required

  • Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
