Human Resources Generalist

Job Description

The HR Generalist will provide human resource programs, services and support to administrators, faculty, staff and students in the Chemistry Department. This position will coordinate, coach and execute HR activities in the functional areas of classification and job analysis, employee relations, performance management, recruitment and selection, onboarding and compliance areas. The HR Generalist will be expected to provide consulting services to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as University policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or other business related field, or equivalent training and or experience.

Possess demonstrated working knowledge of HR principles and practices such as onboarding, employee relations, recruitment, selection and performance management, research and policy interpretation.

Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and day-to-day operations independently.

Experience handling sensitive/confidential information with discretion.

Experience developing, implementing and maintaining accurate and secure human resources records.

Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner; interact respectfully and comfortably in a diverse and multicultural environment.

Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a variety of competing demands while meeting established deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

HR experience in a college, university or public sector.

HR Certification (PHR or SPHR).

Experience with University systems including Banner HRIS, PageUP, Time Clock Plus.

Experience working with employment based visa petitions and applications.
