Job Description


The Human Resources Manager will collaborate with leaders, employees, and stakeholders to drive performance and create a positive work culture. This is a highly visible role providing day-to-day HR leadership for our Beecher, IL facility with approximately 110 employees.

The position that incorporates many traditional HR functional responsibilities such as talent acquisition and employee relations, as well as more proactive activities that involve partnering with different areas of the business to address employee engagement, talent and organizational development, managing change, and policy development and implementation.

Essential Functions:

  • Drives the talent acquisition and onboarding processes for regular and temporary employees.
  • Coaches and counsels’ managers and employees on a wide variety of work-related activities, policies, and procedures such as employee relations, talent planning and management, career development, process improvement, performance management, compensation and benefits, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and recruiting.
  • Partners with managers to proactively identify issues and provide tailored solutions to meet business goals.
  • Facilitates mandatory and developmental training including Harassment-Free Workplace, Performance Management, Conflict Resolution, etc.
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all employee's, respecting and valuing individual differences and perspectives.
  • Assess departmental employee engagement levels and assist in the development of action plans to ensure a positive, engaging, and supportive workplace.
  • Assists with the administration and communication of performance management and rewards programs.
  • Actively participates in the Bernard safety program, including possible participation in the site safety committee, maintaining incident reports, and driving the incident investigation process when necessary.
  • Works closely with ITW and the HR team to ensure consistency in the interpretation, communication, application and administration of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that comply with federal and state laws and are consistent with ITW’s values and business goals.
  • Utilizes computer technology to streamline process improvements and delivery of HR services.
  • Functions as project manager coordinating special Human Resource initiatives as needed, such as Open Enrollment, United Way, Wellness initiatives, etc.
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll, maintain HRIS records, support FMLA/Leave of Absence and manage Worker’s Compensation cases.
  • Additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other relevant field and a minimum of 3 years’ HR Generalist Experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a range of employee relations issues, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to lead through challenging situations.
  • Experience administering FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, and other leave of absence or accommodation requests.
  • Prior experience in the following functional areas: recruiting, performance management, interpreting and applying employment laws and policies, employee engagement process improvement, and compensation and benefits.
  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Office tools. Workday, Dayforce and SmartRecruiters experience desired.
  • Must possess consultative style and approach with proven ability to develop credible relationships with business partners, and ability to influence without authority.
