Job Summary:

In alignment with the Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Human Resources Manager is the key point of contact providing Human Resources subject matter expertise to managers and employees within his or her assigned Vicariate. This position will be responsible for locations in Lake County.

Essential job functions:

· Directly supports the Episcopal Bishop, the Director of Vicariate Operations and Regional Director(s) for assigned vicariate regarding HR strategic support and consultation. Provides regular coaching, guidance, and feedback to help manage HR initiatives in their vicariate.

· Supports all areas of HR for assigned vicariate, including talent and performance management, employee relations and engagement, organizational development, change management, employment law, and effective adoption of organizational initiatives and strategies.

· Partners with organizational leaders to conduct employee relations and ethics/integrity investigations.

· Supports the HR strategy by measuring operational success through HR metrics, including staffing and turnover. Regularly reviews metrics, analyzes, and identifies trends. Recommends plans of action to address gaps.

· Promotes and strengthens the positive work environment by actively listening and appropriately responding to employee/leadership concerns with a sense of urgency.

· Collaborates with the Director of Employee Relations to identify training and leadership development needs and implement solutions. Facilitates training sessions on identified topics such as employment law, positive employee relations, leadership development, and team building.

· Supports talent management initiatives, including coaching good and poor performance. Advises leaders on coaching to correct process, including disciplinary actions and terminations.

· Project manager for various projects as assigned, applying an organizational lens and downstream impacts to all vicariates as well the Pastoral Centers.

· Maintains close and trusted partnerships with all vicariate leaders including operations directors and business managers to ensure alignment with organizational goals, maintain regular communication.

· Serves as backup to the Director of Employee Relations when asked.

· Regular travel throughout assigned vicariate required (up to 65%) with two days per week in the Pastoral Center. No overnight travel is expected. Must have access to reliable transportation.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Passionate about and committed to the Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and global Catholic Church.

· Minimum five years of relevant Human Resources generalist experience, with an emphasis on employee relations and talent assessment.

· Thorough knowledge of employment laws such as EEO, ADAAA, FMLA, FLSA, and their application.

· Ability to gather and evaluate data and make recommendations.

· Demonstrated ability to be highly collaborative, taking a consultative approach to problem resolution.

· Excellent judgment, problem identification and resolution, decision making, interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to work and be entrusted with highly confidential and extremely sensitive information.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a highly matrixed organization with a sense of urgency.

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; Master’s degree and SHRM certification a plus.

· Spanish fluency is a plus but not required
