POSITION PURPOSE
Under general supervision of the Education/ Staff Development Director, the RN Educator is responsible for the overall nurse residency program in support of the professional model of nursing practice at Huntsville Memorial Hospital and provides clerical and instructional support related to staff development and education for the institution. The incumbent is responsible for the assessment of orientation and training program needs, development, and execution of program objectives, and evaluation and ongoing improvement of a competency based orientation for the nurse resident. Promote professional role development and growth along the continuum from novice to expert. Assist department directors/ managers and staff in developing and maintaining their competencies, advancing their professional practice, and facilitating their achievement of academic and career goals. Identify opportunities to improve processes and mitigate risks to the patient, staff, and hospital.
Serves as a partner for practice transition, change agent, mentor, leader, champion of scientific inquiry, advocate for the employees, and facilitate learning. Create and implement cost-effective, efficient, and timely education using innovative teaching methods and technology to motivate and educate staff to adopt new practice changes incorporating evidence-based practices promoting positive patient outcomes. Assist in leading staff, managing programs and projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and evaluating outcomes.

LATITUDE, CONTACTS/INTERACTIONS
All positions of Huntsville Memorial Hospital are part of an interdisciplinary team, and as such, participate in the care and service delivery process through effective interaction with other team members. Primarily interacts with hospital staff, medical staff, patients, and visitors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
Experience: 5 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting required.
Licensure/Certification:
-Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas required.
-Advanced Cardiac Life Support & Pediatric Advanced Life Support (or ENPC) certifications required within 90 days of hire.
-Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
Required Skills:
-Excellent oral/ written communication skills, organizational and presentation skills.
-Proficient in computer and internet/ intranet use.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent: standing, walking, reaching, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
Occasional: sitting, lifting, and carrying.
Visual and hearing acuity required. Work is inside, with good ventilation and comfortable temperature.
Possible exposure to: toxic/caustic chemicals or detergents, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens.
