HVAC Technician I

Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance of HVAC systems. Repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. Logging refrigerant used and repairs made to equipment. Thorough knowledge and practice of safe working practices, and compliance with federal EPA standards. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Education Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

Three years experience assisting in maintenance, repair and/or installation of HVAC equipment which can be acquired from another institution or commercial service companies.
Must possess above average mechanical aptitude, memory for abstract ideas and analytical reasoning.
Must possess a valid Kentucky Drivers License.
Refrigeration, air conditioning and heating training through vocational school, apprentice program, or on-the-job training. Possess an EPA Refrigerant Certification or ability to obtain certification.

Eight hours per day, five days per week. Overtime and callback after normal working hours.

Physical Demands

Danger from chemicals, working around high voltage and steam lines. Heavy lifting of chemicals and refrigerants. Climbing ladders and stairs.
