Job Summary: 

At iHerb, we are on a mission to make health and wellness accessible to everyone globally through our products and platforms. The Infrastructure Engineering team at iHerb focuses on improving our infrastructure, scalability, performance, reliability, and security of the systems and tools for our technology teams. We provide a wide range of services internally to our teams. Infrastructure Engineering teams comprises Cloud Operations (CloudOps), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Database Reliability Engineering (DRE), and Production Operations (ProdOps).

We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Database Reliability Engineering whom will manage and oversee our Database Reliability team and be responsible for the uptime, performance, and reliability of our database systems. This position will design, build and maintain a redundant and efficient database infrastructure that keeps up with our e-commerce platform and warehouse management systems. Engineers in this group combine a variety of skills and operational best practices, with an emphasis on supporting, deploying and operating databases (MS-SQL, Postgres, Dynamo, MongoDB, Kafka, etc). This group utilizes a blend of DBA, Data Engineering, SRE and Devops tools and skill sets.

Sr. Manager, Database Reliability Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of database reliability engineers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Hire top notch talent that buys into iHerb values and engineering culture.
  • Conduct regular 1:1’s to provide feedback, mentoring and career development for your team members.
  • Work with leadership to build a progressive vision for our data stack.
  • Assist in defining and tracking observability metrics in order to achieve various SLO’s.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation as needed.
  • Drive an obsessive agenda towards full automation of database infrastructure, specifically in AWS.
  • Ability to create a comprehensive plan for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges.
  • Work closely with our ProdOps (NOC) team to ensure operational excellence and quick remediation of issues and outage.
  • Collaborate with other technology teams to enhance and expand a resilient and elastic cloud footprint.
  • Build strong relationships with TPM, software engineering and other business units.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Excellent communication skills. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical peers.
  • 5+ years of direct management experience in a technology role
  • 7+ years of experience operating large-scale relational databases across a variety of platforms and providers.
  • 5+ years of experience with infrastructure automation (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Strong programming skills with Python or other scripting languages.
  • 2+ years of experience with data engineering pipeline and streaming technologies such as Airflow, Kafka Connect, Spark, etc
  • Familiarity with Databricks is a strong plus.  

Work Environment: The noise in the work environment is usually moderate. Other factors are:

  • Hectic, fast-paced with multi-level distractions
  • Professional, yet casual work environment
  • Office / Warehouse environment
  • Ability to work extended hours as required

The anticipated pay scale for this position can be found below, however the pay range applicable to you may vary by geographic location based on where the job is located or where you work. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, etc. iHerb, LLC is a multi-state employer and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations.

Employees will also be eligible for Time Off and Paid Sick Leave pursuant to the company’s policies. Hired applicant may be awarded Restrict Stock Units and receive annual bonuses pursuant to eligibility and performance criteria defined in the respective plan documents and policies.

$154,467—$221,169 USD
