The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for delivering and scaling ag software sales through inside sales resources with the ultimate goal to meet sales quotas/objectives and prospecting high revenue targets for Sales Reps.

An understanding of challenges in the agrifood ecosystem (including farm, ag retail, and food supply chain), competitive landscape, key audiences and key targets is important as the manager focuses on the primary pillars of inside sales:

Here's how



Process Driven: Develop and Refine

  • Develop business plans to incorporate offerings from various product portfolios into the inside sales workflow
  • Understand all products and services and drive the dissemination of training to the inside sales team to help focus efforts and craft messaging.
  • Develop and refine playbooks to define the rules of engagement for inside sales and sales reps from various entities in the business.
  • Develop and deploy emails and scripts to persuade prospects to engage with sales reps.
  • Partner with marking to understand and tailor campaigns to craft specific and timely messaging based on software offerings.

    Data Analysis: Report and Analyze
  • Develop reports and dashboards in Salesforce to analyze data and provide guidance on improvement where necessary.
    Report on leads converted to opportunities and revenue through the sales pipeline.
  • Identify and implement new tools to better report, analyze and improve the inside sales processes and performance.
  • Work with Product, Marketing, and Client Success teams to develop buyer personas.
  • Identify collateral needed from cold calling and email engagement data.
  • In collaboration with the sales team, assist the inside sales team with targeting exercises for focused buyer personas campaigns.

    Prospect Engagement Coaching: Train and Evaluate
  • Constantly provide coaching and feedback to inside sales reps to enhance their cold-calling skills and suggest improvements.
    Identify successful and unsuccessful emails and scripts and modify them where appropriate.
  • Listen in on calls and provide feedback on prospecting
  • Coach, train, evaluate and monitor sales representative's performance
  • Record and document important feedback from inside sales activities to enhance team performance (i.e. objection management from conversations in customer calls).

    DUTIES & COMPETENCIES
  • Set and track targets and KPIs.
  • Obtain a high-level understanding of TELUS Agriculture products/services.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual inside sales metrics.
  • Use customer feedback to generate ideas about new collateral needed.
  • Stay apprised of inside sales best practices, articles, and new industry news / developments and discuss with team members.
  • Research and discover methods to increase customer engagement.
  • Build an open communication culture inside your team
  • Understand sales prospecting including building rapport, engaging the prospect, and uncovering money, method, and motivation.
  • Develop scripts and emails to be used by the inside sales team.
  • Understand how a lead becomes an opportunity.
  • Prioritize active vs passive buyers and partner with Marketing to develop a lead disqualification strategy

What you bring to the role

  • Excellent at managing your own schedule and priorities.
  • Comfortable in new markets where you have to test positioning with prospects.
  • Ability to drive rapport and credibility with teams based on industry knowledge.
  • Excellent at prospect engagement including but not limited to building rapport, uncovering pain points, determining buying criteria, and purchase timeline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills in group settings as well as web-based.
  • Able to work remotely and connect often in a meaningful way with your team.
  • Remote work using tools for virtual meetings, cell phone, etc.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Google Suite applications (and similar office suites).
    This position may require occasional travel to industry events, training events, and/or trade shows.

Employment Type - Full Time
Career Stream Level - M5, Grade 9

The US base salary range for this position is $145k-175k USD. This position may be eligible for a performance-based bonus. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within that range, individual pay is determined by work location and a variety of factors, which may include but are not limited, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. All candidates are encouraged to apply.

In addition to your salary, TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and may be dependent on the country of residence).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of experience in inside sales or equivalent sales roles.
  • Experience managing team members with 15+ years of agricultural and food-value chain knowledge.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated track record of large volume of communication (emails, calls, etc) to prospects.
  • Must be equally comfortable selling to in-field locations as well as to C-level executives
  • Proven knowledge and network of companies – preferably in industries related to agronomic service companies, fertilizer and crop protection retail companies, agricultural cooperatives and food companies.
