Senior Strategist - Research and Testing (Freelance)

Instrument is to execute a pre-flight concept testing sprint to support a client's new campaign and is in need of a Freelance Research and Testing Strategist.  In collaboration with the client, you will provide data and insights crucial for selling the campaign concept within a 4 week spring. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research methodologies, participant recruitment, and strategic analysis.


A note to consider before applying: This project requires full time (40 hrs/week) support, Monday - Friday from 6/17-7/12.  Please share your typical availability in your application.


What You'll Do
  • Design, execute and lead qualitative (70%) quantitative (30%) research and testing projects to generate meaningful and intuitive insights that push creativity and ensure post-launch validity for digital experiences
  • While embedded and in collaboration with project teams, lead user testing tasks including recruiting participants, designing surveys and interview guides, moderating remote and in-person interviews, focus groups, conducting data analysis, identifying insights and generating reportsIn partnership with the project team, define reporting and measurement metrics that align with overall project and usability goals
  • Prepare and present approaches, insights, and recommendations directly with mid-senior level clients in a compelling and impactful way.
  • Operate autonomously while partnering closely with the producers, designers, writers, developers, and other strategists to provide support and value throughout the entire project cycle
  • Be an agency-wide advocate for putting humans at the center of digital experiences that we design for clients


What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience supporting and leading quantitative and qualitative research and testing for digital experiences (websites, apps, brands) and marketing campaigns
  • Experience with various methodologies, focused on user experience (UX), user interface (UI), product, market research and/or consumer insights.  
  • Ability to lead meaningfully, with an understanding of the design, technical and business implications associated with strategic recommendations
  • Comfortable and confident when presenting and collaborating with clients, from managing and prioritizing requests to seamlessly implementing their feedback
  • Experience working and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary team including creative and technical partners
  • Flexible and engaging in a team setting, from onboarding quickly to reading a room and leveraging your high EQ to navigate internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong writing, communication, and skillsTechnical skills include fluency in Google and Microsoft Productivity Suites (Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides)
  • Experience with data analysis tools (SPSS, R, SAS)Familiarity with design tools (Sketch, Figma, InVision)


Pay Range
  • The expected pay range for this role is $103 -$140 per hour
  • Our company has three regional pay bands that it adheres to depending on your location, we reference them as US 1, US 2, and US 3
  • US 3 is our base pay. Examples of cities in US 3 are Portland, Houston and Miami.
  • US 2 pay is 7.5% higher than US 3 to meet the market rates. Examples of cities in US 2 are Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle
  • US 1 pay is 15% higher than US 3 to meet market rates. Examples of cities in US 1 are Brooklyn and San Francisco
