Our Manhattan, New York office has an immediate opening for an Instrumentation Manager. This position offers an opportunity to manage a successful instrumentation practice in an established engineering practice. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the data acquisition, management, reporting, and monitoring of various geotechnical and structural instrumentation. Instrumentation is employed on a variety of projects, from urban residential and commercial development to large heavy civil infrastructure projects.
This position will include both office and field work. The office work will include managing and overseeing the work of staff engineers and instrumentation specialists. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and controlling inventory, managing the instrumentation database website, designing and constructing instruments from stock materials, managing supplies, calibrating and maintaining equipment, and responding to monitoring alerts. The instrumentation manager would prepare cost estimates and bids for new work, understand developing technology and commercial opportunities, generate monitoring reports, and coordinate billing for equipment use. The field work may include equipment installation, manual equipment readings, and maintenance.
The successful candidate will be eager to learn and have a civil, electrical, and/or mechanical engineering education with understanding of hardware and software components of instruments. This person will work under the direct supervision of the Office Manager.
The ideal candidate for this position should have strong communication skills, flexibility, and be motivated to work as part of a team. This position will need someone who is detail minded, energetic, handy, responsive, responsible, punctual, and self-motivated.
It is anticipated that most the work will occur during normal business hours; however, the position does require occasional travel and night and weekend work.
