Intern Coordinator

The Hamilton Career Network (HCN) creates opportunities for members of the Hamilton community to engage with the College, students, and alumni around career interests. The HCN provides community, virtual resources, and in-person events focused around professional development, networking, interdisciplinary lifelong learning, and student career development. The student arm of the HCN, the Connect Team, develops and executes the Career Center’s student-facing operation by way of alumni-led, industry-based, on-campus curriculum. The interns on the Connect Team conceptualize program topics, conduct outreach to solicit potential alumni volunteers, coordinate 80-100 events annually, and publicize all programs to the campus community.

The Intern Coordinator will provide direct oversight to the Connect Team, a group of roughly 30 interns. We are seeking candidates to work approximately 25 hours per week during the academic semesters and reduced hours during breaks and summer.

This is a non-benefited, part time position with approximately 900 hours per year.

The Connect Team Coordinator will oversee day-to-day operation of the Connect Team, including:

  • Coordinating bi-annual recruitment
  • Planning, preparing, and implementing a 5-day, bi-annual training/planning session for all staff
  • Managing a leadership team of 5-8 student interns
  • Leading weekly meetings with leadership team and each of 5 “clusters” - 6 total meetings per week - and monthly full team meetings
  • Providing indirect (and sometimes direct) oversight to the full team, including offering guidance to the leadership team in how to manage staff, stepping in when appropriate, and helping to resolve personnel issues as they arise
  • Conducting quarterly performance review process
  • Collecting, maintaining, soliciting upkeep of, and regularly packaging data around various Connect Team data points.
  • Serving as a liaison between the Connect Team, marketing team, event team, and the Hamilton Career Network Associate Director
  • Maintaining operations and staffing budget

The approximate hourly breakdown per task includes:

  • 10 hours per week in meetings and preparing for meetings
  • 10 hours per week in data maintenance, including budget, alumni tracking, communication, student time approval, etc.
  • 5-10 hours per week with intern management, including drop-in office hours, team management through Slack app, weekly team correspondence, troubleshooting team issues

Please note, even through this is a part time position, it will require after hours work at times to respond to intern emails.
