SUMMARY
SHRM’s paid internship program enables students to participate in valuable real-world work experience through a variety of tailored assignments within their areas of interest and fields of study. Students will be tasked with different team specific projects, tasks, and participate in professional development projects and events to prepare them for their future careers. The eCommerce Optimization intern will be responsible for supporting the optimization of the SHRMStore functionality and performance by which SHRM sells its products and programs. The position will collaborate cross-functionally with Technology, Accounting, Customer Experience, Marketing, and Business Intelligence teams to continuously improve the customer experience, product visibility, and revenue. This is a paid internship at a starting rate of $20.00/Hour.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Customer Experience and Accounting teams to troubleshoot and resolve customer inquiries or concerns escalated to the Digital Products & Services team.
- Analyze customer experience workflows and recommend improvements.
- Support the implementation of SHRMStore optimization plans (e.g., webpage content audits, site navigation, cross-sells and up-sells, curated collections).
- Work with the Development Team to discover, test, and implement updates on the SHRMStore.
- Maintain SHRMStore webpages to ensure product presentation conforms to eCommerce best-practices.
- Contribute to marketing campaigns by securing new opportunities and supporting messaging direction, copy and creative development.
- Use business intelligence tools to analyze data, determine ROI, and optimize performance.
- Analyze web engagement and digital marketing data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for the business.
- Carry out division-specific tasks/activities as assigned by the supervisor throughout the duration of the internship
- Manage deliverables and provide regular updates
Education & Experience Requirements
- Preferred fields of study: pursuing a bachelor’s in business, marketing, data science, or other related fields
- 0-3 years of relevant work experience

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
- Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work environment
- SHRM does operate under a hybrid work schedule and will require you to be in SHRM’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays will be working remotely.
- Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
