Job Description

The Charge Nurse will lead and coordinate nursing activities within the patient care units. The Charge Nurse plays a vital role in managing patient care, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring high-quality nursing services are delivered.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and the ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the nursing unit, ensuring efficient and effective patient care delivery. 
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, providing guidance and support to promote professional development and teamwork. 
  • Assess patient care needs and allocate resources accordingly to ensure optimal staffing levels and patient outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans. 
  • Monitor patient progress and condition, addressing any changes or concerns promptly. 
  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Facilitate communication among staff, patients, and families, promoting a collaborative and supportive environment. 
  • Assist in administrative duties, such as maintaining staffing schedules, reviewing patient charts, and documenting nursing interventions.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.   
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). 
  • 5 years minimum experience including 6 months within the past year. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). 
  • Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred. 

Education Required: 

  • Bachelors or Master of Science in Nursing - Candidates must be a graduate of a school of nursing that was approved and/or accredited by the appropriate State agency and accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at the time the program was completed.  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.  
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.    
  • Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.  
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.  
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project. 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.

Compensation | Min: 115,000  Max: 152,000

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

Benefits – Full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Additional benefits include a 401k plan paid time off and an annual bonus.  International SOS complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
