Compensation & Benefits: The TRS Investment Management Division offers an attractive compensation package consisting of base salary, annual performance incentive bonus, a defined-benefit pension plan as well as 401(k) and 457 retirement plans, and comprehensive benefits. A hybrid schedule will be available to IMD employees after 6 months of service.
Depending upon the qualifications of the individual selected and the discretion of the hiring manager, the position will be filled at one of two levels (Analyst or Senior Analyst). Starting salary is commensurate with experience.
The Investment Operations Analyst or Senior Analyst performs fundamental and statistical investment-related research, analysis, and communications work. The incumbent will assist the Head of Investment Operations with coordinating Investment Operations activities to include: facilitating communications; assisting investment operations management and staff with analysis, and research; and special projects. This position will work proactively with the Head of Investment Operations, Investment Operations team, IMD staff, and TRS employees. This position reports to the Head of Investment Operations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Coordination and Communication
- Supports Investment Operations management interactions through careful and timely preparation of material and information.
- Coordinates investment and administrative tasks and details between the Investment Operations management team and other Investment division teams/functions, and with external partners.
- Monitors deadlines of projects underway (both internal and external) to ensure timely delivery.
- Organizes cross-team reporting.
- Assists with relationship management of key external relationships.
Research and Analytics
- Conducts detailed research analysis and special projects for Investment Operations on requested topics, leveraging internal and external resources to provide accurate information/analysis and recommendations for making investment decisions.
- Synthesizes and integrates data for investment decision making.
- Actively researches and identifies areas for improvement around operations, reporting and investment systems.
- Updates and maintains operational documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Facilitates resolutions cross-organization.
- Prepares timely written or oral reports of analysis and recommendations to Investment Operations management.
Reporting and Oversight
- Consolidates and reports on strategic Investment Operations initiatives to Head of Investment Operations.
- Provides regular reporting on Investment Operations transactions and key projects.
- Provides investment operations management committee reporting.
- Provides and oversees investment operations resource reporting.
- Performs related work as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, finance, accounting, operations research, math, information technology, liberal arts or a related area.
Required Experience
Analyst
- One (1) year of full-time accounting, financial analysis, trade settlement or related experience requiring compilation, reconciliation, and/or analysis of detailed information.
Senior Analyst
- Three (3) years of full-time accounting, financial analysis, trade settlement or related experience requiring compilation, reconciliation, and/or analysis of detailed information.
Required Registration, Certification, or Licensure
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) to five (5) years of full-time accounting, financial analysis, trade settlement or related experience requiring compilation, reconciliation, and/or analysis of detailed information.
- A Master’s degree in a related area may substitute for a year of the required experience.
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) or working towards CPA/CFA/CAIA.
- Experience with software languages, database and report writing technology (SQL, SSRS, and PowerBI).
- Basic understanding of capital markets, investment securities (equities, bonds, and derivatives), and/or private markets (real estate or private equity).
- Basic understanding of investment performance measurement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Investment concepts, terminology, styles, models, strategies and fundamental and quantitative
investment factors.
- Financial concepts, methods, and models, and their applications.
Skill in:
- Using a computer in a Windows environment with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation,
database, and other business software to prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, charts, and
reports.
- Conducting data searches and evaluations of large amounts of information, performing complex financial analysis of the data, and preparing concise and accurate reports and written/oral recommendations.
- Planning, organizing, and prioritizing work assignments to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced and changing environment, and in completing detailed work with a high degree of
accuracy.
- Verbal and written communication of complex information that is accurate, timely, and based on sound judgment.
- Communicating complex technical information, verbally and in writing, including presenting
analysis.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, and
external contacts.
