In the US, Mercer provides investment management services, overseeing the asset allocation, investment decisions, rebalancing and investment monitoring of client portfolios through its “outsourced chief investment officer” (or “OCIO”) business, as well as its multi-manager and fund-of-funds offerings, including registered mutual funds, bank-maintained collective investment vehicles, and private funds.

Mercer Investments LLC is seeking candidates for the following position based out of the Boston (preferred) or New York office:

Investments Counsel - Funds and Regulatory Specialist

We will count on you to:

  • Advise on the day-to-day operation of Mercer’s manager-of-managers and fund-of-funds products, specifically our ERISA collective investment trust funds and registered mutual funds;
  • Advise on regulatory obligations applicable to Mercer’s services and offerings under ERISA, Investment Advisers Act, Investment Company Act and New Hampshire state trust company regulations;
  • Support Mercer’s pooled employer plan and similar offerings;
  • Manage new product launches and advise on fund structure and design;
  • Draft prospectus, SAI, shareholder reports, and similar disclosure document updates;
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills and exercise sound judgment.

What you need to have:

  • JD from a US accredited law school and license to practice, in good standing, in at least one of the fifty states;
  • 3 + years of experience, either at a law firm in the ERISA or investment management practice, and/or in-house at a financial services firm servicing ERISA institutional clients and/or collective investment trusts;
  • Knowledge of, and experience advising on, ERISA, the Investment Advisers Act, and/or the Investment Company Act.

  • Experience with Office of Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)- or state-regulated collective investment trusts;
  • Experience advising manager-of-managers and fund-of-funds firms;

The applicable base salary range for this role is $101,700 to $203,500.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
