ISP Data Engineer Role Profile
Purpose of Role
Located in the UK (Office / Hybrid) and reporting to the Group Head of Data Engineering, we are seeking to hire a Data Engineer. The role will be responsible for designing, managing, and maintaining our cloud data infrastructure.
The Data Engineer will work with the other Data Engineer in a newly formed team within the group technology function. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the team and the wider Centralised Insights project team which includes an external data consultancy partner to deliver on our key objectives.
In addition, the Data Engineer will be expected to work closely with our enterprise systems owners and functional heads.

ISP Data Engineer Key Responsibilities
The Data Engineer will be responsible owning the following aspects of our data strategy
- Build and maintain our data processing architecture
- Implementing, managing, and supporting a robust access control model
- Management & provisioning of the cloud data infrastructure
- Development of cloud-based ELT/ETL processes
- Scope and source new data for ingestion
- Ownership of the cloud data infrastructure, managing change and enhancements
- Ensuring high levels of data security and compliance
- Adhering to data policies and procedures
- Supporting the BI team with any new data requests
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Experience with Azure Portal and Databricks is a must
- Strong programming languages; SQL, Python, Scala, R.
- Strong hands-on experience in analysing data on large datasets (Terabytes)
- Extensive experience in Dimensional data modelling including complex entity relationships and historical data entities
- Experience in building and delivering data marts, data warehouses, data lake and delta lake solutions.
- Development of data ingestion pipelines and robust ETL frameworks. Implementation of data cleansing and data quality features in ETL pipelines.
- Must have strong professional experience of data engineering
- Experience in documenting low level ETL designs
- Bachelor's degree in computer science (or equivalent)
- 5 years or more work experience in a similar capacity
- Demonstrated experience developing and operationalizing complex data projects
