A Security Tooling Developer is required to work in the Network Security Engineering team, which engineers, integrates and hosts firewalls, web infrastructure and everything in between which serves thousands of web applications being delivered to both internal and external clients. In this role, the engineer will act as a subject matter expert for security tooling development and application security in general. They will be expected to collaborate with lead engineers in our team responsible for web and application servers, firewalls, intrusion detection devices (IDS) load-balancers and web authentication infrastructure, and with colleagues in the wider organization who own networks, logging, application architecture and other complementary technologies.
Develop, Support, and Implement tools that support the firm’s network security infrastructure (firewalls, proxies, NIDS devices, etc)
Research into vendor and open-source solutions in the malware web security space, and determination of their place in our overall solution Interfacing with technical contacts at external vendor providers and other internal teams to ensure a holistic solution is delivered and enhanced Training operations personnel, application support groups and other engineers in tools, technologies and procedures Writing of tools and scripts as appropriate to support handoff of solutions to Operations teams

Overall, the Security Tooling Developer will play a crucial role in enhancing the firm's network security posture by developing and implementing cutting-edge tools, fostering collaboration across various teams, and ensuring all stakeholders are well-equipped to handle security-related tasks. Their work will contribute to the protection of thousands of web applications delivered to both internal and external clients, safeguarding the firm's sensitive information and assets from potential threats.

  • Scripting Experience: They have 5+ years of experience in scripting across popular languages, with specific proficiency in Perl and Python.
  • Integration with Network Infrastructure: They have 3+ years of experience integrating scripts with common network infrastructure, including tasks like device backups and writing API calls.
  • Unix/Linux Environments: They have 3+ years of experience working with Unix/Linux environments and are familiar with common user tasks in these systems.
  • Web Proxies and Firewalls: They have a working knowledge of web proxies and firewalls, understanding how they function in principle.
  • Web Protocols: They possess a good understanding of the protocols underpinning the web, such as TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS, etc.
  • Networking Topologies: They have experience with common networking topologies, including hardware load-balancing, firewalls, and multi-tiered architectures.
  • Programming/Scripting Languages: They are proficient in Python and Perl, and potentially have skills in other programming languages like C, C++, Java, and Angular/JS.
  • RESTful/SOAP API Programming: They have experience with programming for RESTful/SOAP APIs, which are common in web development and integration.
  • Proxy and Firewall Experience: They have hands-on experience with Bluecoat proxies, Juniper, or Fortinet firewalls, indicating their expertise in network security.
  • Cyber Security Qualifications: They hold recognized cyber security qualifications, like CISSP, showcasing their commitment to security best practices.
  • Experience in Large Enterprises: They have experience working in large enterprise environments, which suggests they can handle complex and scalable projects.
